How about the "Get blockaded by the team that you have enforced peace with" event?

My only joy now is to pop Commodore in the mouth as hard as I can in 5 turns

Haven't been at my civ-capable computer hardly at all in a couple days. I imagine next time I do get some time to login to see the Privateers, I'll be so enraged that it'll motivate me to jump right back into this. What's that thing Noble always says? Death to Commodore, etc...? If he wants to go ahead and repeat that in here a few times I would be a-okay with that. wink

Death to Commodore!

After the turn rolls there will be 4 turns of enforced peace left. That's our timetable.

So a silver lining to the dark Commodore cloud is that it has inspired a plan on how to get our troops across the ocean:

[Image: pb8%20-%20turn218%20-%20privateers.jpg?raw=1]

Commodore has put his privateers to the north, attacking our Moai city. (Note the size of the offshore city. He's obviously whipped it down to produce said privateers.) There may be an opportunity here, and I'm gearing up for a bit of subterfuge to get our ships across the ocean.

Commodore has seen about 9 of our galleons from the last altercation: the stack of 7 that scooter used to position against his last southern fleet, along with 2 more that I've made in the north. I plan to use all 9 of those ships to attack his privateers in the turns leading up to the end of the enforced peace. I'm bringing up the 7 very visibly along the coast (he has a frigate spotting for them), and I've got 2 more north of TGIF that will likely swing north of Domino's to hit the northern most privateer. The plan is that in 2-3 turns we will attack his privateers and sink as many as possible.

I also have 7 workers building a fort north of KFC. I've put to more workers on the coast where they sunk 2 turns of fort into the coastal desert tile, a tile that is very much visible to Commodore. I then canceled their action to make it look like I was "hiding" what they were doing. I want Commodore to think that I am trying to push through the north by building forts here and being clever in hiding them. I'll be disappointed if he doesn't move his privateer to scope out hte shore next turn, which will let him spot all of the workers and the fort I've already completed.

My plan is that the combination of the me attacking his privateers in the north and Commodore seeing my workers trying to hide their fort building will make him think I plan to attack in the north, and get him to move any defenses he has that direction. I've also weakened the defenses of Dominos to encourage him in that direction as well.

Meanwhile, we have 15 galleons sitting in the inner lake of our civ, not in any cities so as to stay out of sight to any potential spies or sentry privateers from the coast. I'm also stacking our attacking forces in a similar manner, outside of cities and away from the coast. On the turn before war I will finish the fort 1E of the capital (currently it is at 9/10 completion) and race with our fleet eastward. If the plan works, Commodore will be expecting the push in the north and attacking my feint of 9 galleons up there. While the main force of 15 galleons pushes through the middle. (I may build a few more galleons for the middle, but I've swapped out of slavery for the golden age, so I may not have the option...)
