Brick, the map size is Huge, correct? For calculating tech costs i have Normal (1.0), Monarch (1.15), Huge (1.5)

Uh I'm pretty sure SIP is the best idea unless we find another food in the fog. A two food capital is much better than a one food one, just look at the RB "demo"game where everyone picked food over plains hill except for the Pirates, and we know how that turned out...

map size is huge.

yes, grass wheat stays. obviously an edited map so there's a bit of oddities but oh well.

So yeah the map size is actually large and not huge.

Well, on first runthrough we do have some problems to solve with this starting position.  I don't think we want to move the settler unless our scout reveals another food down south - otherwise 1 food source is not a good capital, as that doesn't let us share food with our second city, etc etc.   So I am leaning towards SIP based on what we see here.  Now if we find another food down south then we have to re-evaluate and throw this all out the window anyway.

Other smaller reasons to SIP: popping a hut without settling your capital risks getting nothing from the hut, we give up the best food tile by moving away from the fish, we lose the option of getting a fast nav-1 galley out for circumnavigation.

Anyway, my initial runthrough was pretty good baseline.  Two workers and settler out by end of turn 36; we can delay the settler a turn by chopping 1 less tree and getting a mine instead.  Anyway, details:

t0.  Settle in place.  Start worker.  Tech on Agriculture

t9.  Ag finished.  Start Mining

t15.  Worker moves W.  Start work boat.  Work wheat tile.

t16.  Mining finished.  Start BW.  Worker moves to wheat and begins farming.

t20.  Farm finishes

t21.  Grow to size 2 at eot.  Work boat @ 7/30.  Worker moves E.

t22.  New citizen works plains forest hill.  Worker moves to cow and begins pasture.

t25.  Pasture finishes.  Capital works wheat and cows.  Grow to size 3 at eot.  Work boat @ 23/30

t26.  Capital works wheat, cows, and pfh.  Worker moves W and then waits for BW to finish.  Work boat finishes eot

t27.  Start warrior in capital.  Work boat moves E-E

t28.  Work boat nets fish.  Capital on Wheat, Fish, and Cow tiles.

t29.  Grow to size 4 at eot.  Finish warrior at eot

t30.  Finish BW.  Start Wheel.  Capital on Wheat, Fish, Cow, and spice tiles.  Start 2nd worker.  1st worker chops.

t32.  Chop finishes, worker completes end of turn.

t33.  Start settler.  Both workers move to riverside forested hills.

t35.  Finish wheel.  Start Pottery.

t36.  Both chops finish, settler done at eot.

We can do some changes, maybe instead of chop then chop with the first worker do a chop then mine.  We can also try to land a religion in city #2 by going for the religion instead of a Wheel -> Pottery.

I'll probably try some variations but intuitively this looks like the way to go.

Wow, disproved my intuition already.  Believe it or not, even if we SIP going work boat first is going to be faster than worker first.  Better in every way: more food, more hammers, more commerce.  We even eliminate the turns the worker spends waiting for BW to come in, and still end up with the same amount of worker-turns put into improvements.

Tech path stayed the same: Ag (9) -> Mining (15) -> BW (27) -> Wheel (33) -> Pottery

Build order goes:

Work boat, working pfh (7)
Worker, working fish (17)
Build warrior while growing to size 4 (28)
2nd worker (32)
Settler (36)

A thought: do we really need the second worker before the settler? Also, can you post or email me the sandbox so I can mess around with it too?

Sandbox?

Oh. One of those things.
