Jumped in and moved the scout:

Decision time. I think we'd be perfectly safe to declare war to go SE and get vision on their capital, but do we want to risk it? Also, do you think it would affect how they would play? Nakor no way, but after reading their PB8 thread, CFCJester seemed to react very weirdly to a lot of things. I could see something as simple as a DOW passage resulting in him going "omg we kill them now die die" when it's totally meaningless so long as we don't step on their food or whatever. Any thoughts? We could just quietly go NE, but I think I have a slight preference to go SE so we can track their builds/pops/whips if desired.

It's a mostly separate question to the scout move, but we do need to consider if we need to get hostile early with these guys or not. Only if it can gain us a big advantage of course, but the reality is we may have to compete with them for this land.

Oh, there's another reason for entering their territory. We want to uncover as many of their tiles as possible so we can track tile yield icons for iron like we did with Commodore in PB8.

We could circle around first. It'd be nice to be able to declare-duck in-duck out, so there is no risk to the scout.

My hesitance is that there's almost no way they are close to completing a warrior right now barring a weedy opening, but that will change in a few turns, especially as they watch the scout of the nation whose thread they named in honor of killing. I think there's less risk to our scout now than later, especially since looping around through jungle will take quite awhile and will be weak on visibility. I see what you mean though.

We could declare, move the scout in, and then immediately offer peace. This may even help speed along the scout by teleporting it

Hm, that could work. Though teleporting could "Commodore" us like PB8 and send us right back where we came from smile.

Anyway, SE is definitely a safe tile. It's not even next to the capital, and there's no way to have roads this early, so even if they complete a warrior it won't be 1N. Actually, I'd bet that SE is actually a SAFER tile compared to 1NE where we could run into an animal. So I think if safety risk is our issue, we declare and move in no doubt. The potential snag is if we get minus diplo points. I'm not sure if we care about that or not.

The scout will teleport northeast towards our city.

Ichabod and The Black Sword both started by growing to size 2. That can't be a good sign

I just realized that 1SE won't get sight on their capital
