Reload happened, turn rolled, I logged in. Uh, I guess the trade went through after all?
I definitely did not offer that twice, so I'm not sure what to say about that. Anyway, our daily galley update is particularly interesting today. For starters, let's check in with Cris Carter out west:
Er, not that Cris Carter and not THAT west.
Much better. So that's why Suttree is struggling so much. Neighbor mackoti will do that to you. By the way, from what I understand, mackoti is basically playing this solo now. That makes this team a lot more formidable, so that's something to keep an eye on. Offered a map swap:
They've got 7 cities to our 8 (and suttree's 4), so he's doing just fine. Adrian Peterson then moved out east and well we're just raking in the contacts right now:
That's Molach, who I'm assuming is working with Dhalphir or something? This is ex-Serdoa. Anyway.... I'm hesitant to offer a map swap with these guys. I don't want our map getting out of control, and we miss circumnav for some reason. The main concern is Plako gets their maps and uses all the knowledge we could theoretically get from mackoti and steals circumnav from us. How about offering them gold for their map? 10 gold maybe? Not until we get Calendar, though. (preview-edit: and until one of us gets Currency
)
Oh, I'm getting way ahead of myself. I have bad news:
Plako finished Great Lighthouse, and we didn't get failgold from it because this was the first turn we would have invested hammers, nor did we have a build behind GLH
. Ugh, silly pitboss. Sorry about that, I should have had one behind it to be safe. Anyway, I think the plan was settler out of here before MoM, so settler now seems like a nice bet. More on that in a minute. Then I think we need to figure out how to best line up overflow to dump into MoM the turn we get Calendar finished. Here's the island dotmap picture for Noble:
So how to do this? I think we shoudl bring that galley back to Trailblazers now, pick up that settler, plant a new city on this island. Any votes on where to place it?
In just general foreign comments, I did notice this:
So this is mildly positive news for us, in that Commodore isn't truly boxed in to the extent he was in PB8. Black Sword is not a completely unreasonable expansion target for him, especially with how good the land is that way. Just look at Sleeper. Triple food + Ivory defended by a civ that promises to lag behind later in the game? And double fish at the island that bridges Commodore to Black Sword? Plus Hindu holy city. I would be aiming this way if I was Commodore. Maybe wishful thinking, we'll see. Dtay might just kill him by then:
Dtay not screwing around. Notice the Hinduism (holy city pictured here) spread into Red Wings. That's our first religion pop, and I didn't notice it until now somehow. That might be a worthwhile religion to go with and spread, given that the holy city is owned by a civ that isn't a serious threat to win. We'll see, we could always target Taoism or something instead.
