What I'm thinking is.. how long can we wander around and still have a shot at winning? Everyone else has settled now. If we go wandering in the desert, we're not settling this turn, quite possibly not next either. You know the game much better than me - how bad being 3 turns behind everyone else would be if we're planning to rush? Considering we also need to find and connect horses before others get Spears
I think 3 of the Settler is a reasonable spot to settle. It's not spectacular, but it does get us started, and it does have 2 food resources and 3 forests to whip/chop a Settler for the horse city and the chariots
So.. can we afford to spend 2 more turns not settling? Considering there's no guarantee we will find a better spot in those turns

I don't think 3 is actually that good a spot: I considered it last turn, but ultimately it doesn't have enough grasslands IMO to be a decent long term capital.
I'm less concerned about spending a little longer scouting with the settler because with these traits, we should be able to catch up in expansion fairly easily.
That said, we can move the scout first and reconsider after that. Best choices IMO are either 9 or 8, but I think 8 makes the most sense if you want to settle this turn, and are looking for a reason not to.

yeah, Scout to 8 is what I thought as well. What about Settler? Where would you move if not settling 3? Something like 9 and see what it uncovers?

Probably. Moving 9 keeps the sheep in the BFC, so really if you think that continuing scouting is a good idea, then you have to move the settler in a manner that keeps the sheep.

Civ is showing blue circle 7 of the Settler, is it relevant at all?
Scout uncovered dry rice, so there are 3 food resources 66 of the sheep (but none we know about in the 1st ring)

Tiles N of the sheep are forest - hill - forest, so we would only be able to settle the 66 spot in 3 turns

I don't entirely trust blue circles.

I'll be honest and say that I think I'd actually keep on scouting for the next 7 or so turns. If find nothing at all, but run into someone else, I'd just settle and spam warriors.

Ok, so I shouldn't be nervous we still didn't settle? Seems to go against all Civ theory I heard about
Moved 99

Next turn I think Scout to 9 (seeing the forested tile 87 of the Scout doesn't give us anything), Settler 9 and then depends on what it reveals, could be 7, 3, or 9 again
