[SPOILERS] Caught in tides of war... yuris125 and Krill - PBEM56

Started writing detailed sandboxing logs, then realised no one is probably interested. The main conclusion is: BW first is much better than AH first. I get the 2nd Worker before Settler, and still get the Settler out 2 turns sooner. Research of 3 vital techs finished in 34 turns in either case, but in case of BW first, I have an extra Worker and an earlier 2nd city by that time

The interesting thing is that the SIP/GLH plant is not slower than PH plant. The reason for this is the extra commerce we get when working the gems forested hill (before mines) - this commerce allows to finish BW 1 turn sooner. The second reason is that Pro leader gets a bonus hammer from PH mines, but not from GLH mines, and the PH plant doesn't have another PH to mine until post-BW. So once rice is farmed and we build the first mine, SIP or GLH city is getting 2 food + 6 hammers + 3 bonus, while PH city can gets 3 food + 5 hammers + 2 bonus. If we go 2nd Worker before Settler, the Settler finishes EOT27 in either case; however, GLH is a better long-term spot because of gems. If Settler before 2nd Worker, SIP/GLH actually finishes it faster because of earlier BW (EOT24 vs EOT25). The only significant advantage PH plant has is that it has enough hammers to finish a Warrior while growing to 2 - the SIP/GLH city only finishes a Warrior after the Settler and the 3rd Worker. Is it worth losing the gems because of it though?

SIP is almost identical to the GLH plant. However, I feel it is slightly better long-term because there is more riverside grassland available (7 tiles vs only 3 with the GLH city). With our food resources being not the best, we may want to farm some of the grassland - and we have more options when settling in place. Also, if we SIP, the whole BFC is green apart from plains hill, while the move to the hill puts a little bit of brown in the BFC

All in all, I think SIP and going BW first is the best option - unless I see something amazing after moving Scout to 3 next turn

We're playing no barbs, but we may need a warrior to deal with someone else throwing a warrior at us. Other than that interesting work. I don't think we are going to be able to work the gems by the time the settler is built either way, so I don't see it as "losing the gems" per se, more of a re-allocation. But yeah, if nothing shows up, definitely defer to hte sandbox.

Well, if we need an emergency Warrior, we can always stop a 2nd Worker build and build one in 2 turns. The Warrior will be half-built while growing to 2, we can finish him by working a 3-hammer tile (a 5-hammer if the mine is already built by then)

Yeah, I'm not convinced by the plains hill if the commerce from the gems tile is worth that much.

Also, for those lurkers out there looking at the balance of this mod: if we'd started in this area, according to yuris' MM we'd be looking at 2 workers and a settler eot T22.

That's not broken at all...some starts can barely reach size 2 by that point.

erm... I wasn't clear there. Sorry. My sandbox was set up to start at T0, and EOT27 was by sandbox's turn count. Still, 2 Workers + Settler at EOT27 is nothing to sneeze at - that's what +50% Worker production does

Hmmm, I think you can beat that. How much are Mining and BW in beakers? 72 and 171 beakers respectively?

71 and 171

Settle T0
T0-4 Work the 2/1/0 forest
T5-10 Work the 0/3/1 gems forest
Mining finished T7
Worker finished T11. Work the rice, farm the rice, build Warrior
Farm finishes EOT15
Start PH mine T17
Growth T18, switch to Worker, work rice + gems
Mine finishes EOT20, work rice + mine
BW finishes T21, Worker has to spend this turn moving onto the forest
Start chop T22
Worker 2 ready T24, moves onto a forest. Start Settler, Worker 1 finishes chop
Worker 2 starts chop T25
Worker 2 chop comes in and finishes the Settler EOT27

I don't see what can be improved there. Do you want the sandbox save?
