Actually that micro is pretty much on par with the best that can be wrong out of this start; the problem with 4 food tiles.

Scout to 3 revealed another rice on the other side of the lake. An irrigated one. Plains hill it is, I guess

Played the sandbox with new rice added. Confirmed we now get 2 Workers + Settler 1 turn faster (Settler finished EOT26 by sandbox turn count), and there's no doubt 5 food is better than 4, and 3 food resources is better than 2 So moved to the plains hill and will settle there next turn

Welp. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. Well not really. I think with these traits you should always moce if the start looks naff.

Our glorious capital
Going to move the Scout 9 next turn and exploring the gems region. May be relevant when we choose location of the 2nd city - although depending on where the opponents are, 2nd city may go to copper rather than to gems. Assuming there is copper nearby of course

Think sticking to the plan and moving the scout 8 and 7 next to explore the gems area is reasonable. Connecting gems will be rather high priority. But looking around pigs and corn is also tempting. What do you think is best Krill?

87 seems good.
Whatever you want to do with the gems, it looks like we need to pop borders to get the gems and a food resource into the BFC. I think 87 confirms that, and can then reassess scouting options.

Well, there is an option to use capital's rice to give the potential gems city (e.g. 4 of the gems) a jump start. But I agree it looks like we will need an early way to pop borders

Confirmed
I'm inclined to double-back, go 3-3-3 and explore the south-east. The huge black area right next to the capital concerns me much more than prospects of finding something more interesting up north

After the initial stream of posts while we've been looking for the new home for Egyptian people, things slowed down. Scout scouting (and moving through known terrain for now), Thebes building Worker, micro plan exists... 2 more turns played, nothing to report. Except the fact that my desktop decided to stop working after I tried to update video drivers. So I've been struggling to make it work again over the last few hours. That has been exciting
