Not much to show

Scout will make another move to 1, then start moving to 7 to uncover the rest of the fog near the capital. Farm done, moving on to mining the hill next. We will be building Worker - Settler next, so will work high hammer tiles and won't need a farm on the 2nd rice for a while

BW in. Panic mode engaged. We have no known copper

AH seems extremely important on this map. Thought about Fishing first for a moment, but no, with so many animal resources and no copper, Fishing can wait

Krill, any thoughts on the second city? As we don't have AH yet, think we need to either settle gems and use the capital's rice, or go to the east and settle next to the wheat. The gems option seems better to me. Something like 4 of the gems? Except we would need to pop borders to work the cow, and currently we don't have any way to do it. But is 3 of the cow and needing border expansion for gems better? Am I missing a good option there?

Found copper near our original start

I can see expanding in this direction. I can easily see that. But I think we need to claim the gems first

Yeah gems is a reasonable choice.

Right then. 2nd city spot is 4 of the gems. The first Worker to finish chop will road the rice. This will let the Settler reach the spot in 1 turn. Then both Workers farm the rice while Thebes builds another Worker. Then chop another Settler, while letting Thebes grow. Research path is AH - Fishing - Pottery. Hoping for horses nearby...

How do you feel about getting Mysticism after Pottery? Our UB is Monument-based, and we can benefit from a cheap way to pop borders. Even if Monuments/Obelisks aren't great

Well you do have another option, but I haven't been looking at the saves to know if it's a reasonable one. You can plant 1 of the southern pig and overlap the rice, and use the third city 3 of the northern cow; by the time the third city is size 3 borders should have popped at capital to bring the gems into use. This also means that the capital can keep it's own food resources, second city has a 6F food resource and the third city brings in the grass cow.

Capital borders are popping in 26 turns... I thought about it, but waiting to get gems with capitals's 3rd ring seemed too slow. Or is it ok you think? I do like 3 of the northern cow better than 4 of the gems, just not sure if waiting for gems so long is good enough

Are you going to work the gems at size 2? I dount it. Those 26 turns are going to be spent building the settler, moving it into position, and growing to size 2. That takes, what, the next 12 turns? And if you do work the gems at size 2 you are going to drastically slow the growth of that second city, so you basically have to have to a good reason to want to prioritise the extra beakers. Personally I prefer the southern option because it gives faster growth and the gems will be used by the fourth city at hte latest (if third city is sent for horse). Other option would be to settle 36 of the gems with the third city to get hte 6F pig.

Sorry, I'm not able to concentrate on civ until a week on Saturday. RL stuff until then.

No worries Krill, I saw you mention your dissertation in another thread. Best of luck with that!

Agree on the southern option, I wasn't thinking about it because it needs AH, missed that it could borrow the rice from Thebes to start

Settler on the move. Revolted to Slavery. Workers are farming the rice, then I will chop the forest on the plains hill and mine it for a 0/5/0 tile
