RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Yeah, Rome is #1 in this game atm IMO. He has a developed port on the inner and out ring, a nice river to cultivate, a shedload of preats to through at spullla (who I think can fend off the attack at the cost of population/future growth, so they are getting dragged back), and KA have to deal with the Incans.

If a good solid player took over the Incans this could be a very interesting game.

I still think it would have been more fun if you had sent that one or the one I suggested lol ... probably better for your relations in future games that you did not, however.

Looks like 14k, which best guess would be Praetorian (8k) + axe (6k). Pretty quiet overall, good news for us here.

I assume that athlete's loss was due to the gifting, right? But how is Jowy's power flat?

Not sure.. it should show up on Jowy's power graph the next turn, which has rolled over since the gifting right?

Oh wow, super proxy war. XD

Just hope Dantski and Jowy can actually use them gifted units.

Does population give power? If so, maybe Jowy whipped some power points away the turn the chariot was gifted.

If the CoW really are going to use unit gifting to circumvent NAPs, they should have had everyone but Jowy and Dantski sign longish-term NAPs with India to make Spullla feel real nice and cozy, to up the surprise factor.

India is doing a nice job of diplomacy, by staggering the NAP expiration dates and having relatively short NAPs that need to be frequently renewed. That way, they see hostile intentions early, and NAP backstabs become less effective too.

2 pop points = 1k soldiers, but a chariot is 4k or 8 pops, so I think it's just the one turn lag and they will see it next turn. Given that they are already somewhat suspicious of athlete losing a unit (they're assuming a barb), I think they will figure it out in a couple more turns unless the gifts stop.

BTW, this is a useful resouce on the cloak and dagger methods:

@antisocialmunky: Indeed. I expect that both S&S are better at MP-tactics than anyone else still in it, and Jowy and Danstki might be some of the weaker tacticians in CoW. Will be interesting to see how they try to coordinate actions given the no-screenshot sharing rule.

I find the whole circumventing of NAPs by gifting units quite lame....

Some might say that they are pretty "aggressive" moves, given that the civs in question know full well what they are being used for.

And what does that "A" stand for again?

Oh, it happens in real life and I doubt you guys would have been complaining if someone gifted you guys units during one of their NAPs with the Ottomans.

I am surprised sometimes by the lurker community on issues like this. To me, it seems like some people really just want a certain narrative to play out. So Byzantium was a villain because we settled too aggressively (and I admit, we did) so decisions that punish Byzantium are ok. Likewise Sullla and Speaker are teching too fast so they also deserve to die. I think since the Ottomans are being clever in their grand alliance plans and they're the "good guys" then their plans do get something of a pass.
