Dantski, I know your heart isn't in the game but do you think you could keep playing until you find a sub? If we pause until that happens I fear that too much interest will be lost.

First let me say that I do still want to continue the game but...

If a replacement isn't found for Dantski in the next two weeks, or Morgan doesn't rematerialize (or someone else doesn't volunteer to stand in for me for 10 days), I'll probably be ending my involvement in this game.

As it is, unless a sub can be found for me, we're staring at a 9 day pause from the 1st through the 9th of next month because neither of Maya's "dedicated lurkers" can run the team during that period unless I come up with a way to get internet for that period, something I am currently unsure of, and if the game is still looking for a replacement for Dantski come August 30th, frankly, I'm not even going to try to log in and see if a replacement has been found during the time that I'm gone. At that point, by the time I got back, the game would have been paused for most of a month, and I doubt there would be enough interest to resume it anymore.

If a replacement IS found and the game continues, I'll do my best to play as often as possible durrning those 9 days, but I can't make promisses as to how much I can manage.

I know most of you don't want to hear the above stuff, and I'm sorry, but I did sign up to be a dedicated lurker for Cull, not to run a team, any team, because I simply didn't have the time to run a team in a game like this. I've put many things in my life on hold at times to try to provide the respectable team management that I felt those in this community deserved from the Friendly Kittens. I've somehow managed to keep things going, spending countless hours that I really didn't have over the last few months, sometimes to the detrement of my personal and professional life. Some things that have happened in the last 10 days have really made this hit home, and I simply cant continue giving the game 5x more time than I said I had to give when the game started. It's reached the point where I simply have to say, I'm sorry, but my gf, son, job, and mom and prior commitments to friends are more important than this game.

That said, IF we can get past that time period and the game is still going, I shouldn't have any more issues at least giving it the hour a day I signed up to give it until the end of December, with the possible exception Thanksgiving day.

EDIT: In case the above isn't clear, If the game gets going again before the 30th, I still want to continue, and I'll try to play as many turns while I'm gone from the 1st-9th as I can, but that might end up being zero. At best, unless a sub is found, some, possibly more than 3, pauses will be needed

Somehow, I doubt a one-day holiday is going to be the end of us...

Well thats pretty much what I've been doing the last couple of months, now that my civ is in its current position its probably better if I didn't play half-assed and got someone to replace me. It's not that I'm too busy to play the turns, I'm just not interested in doing much more than carrying out the first thing that comes into my head when in a standard civ game

Well, I'm going away for a month starting on Saturday, but I have a sub lined up. As far as I am concerned, I don't really have a problem with slow play during that time.

Well, if slow play is tolerable to the rest of the people during that period, then we'll be able to continue, assuming we can find a replacement for Dantski in the next 12 days.

Looks like we've found a sub for Dantski. Now it's just a matter of what we can do while I'm gone for those 9 days.

I hate to throw out another complication, but as I've said before I'm also looking for a sub (well preferably a teammate, but would settle for a sub) this upcoming week. Cjreynol had originally signed up to do that. However, at this point I am not sure whether I can continue to rely on him as a sub: I haven't heard from him since Friday, and he has also been holding the PBEM 8 save since then also. Even before that he was consistently going 2-3 days without playing his PBEM 8 save, so although I continue to hope Cjreynol will work out (and there could certainly be some reasonable explanation for the absence the last 4 days) I don't think it is a safe assumption any more. I would need to find one relatively soon -- although I might be able to play turns Friday and Saturday (depending on available time and internet access), I would not be able to put in the time to get someone up to speed with the game. I would hate to have to pause the game over that time, but unless someone else shows up or Cjreynol reappears and can reassure me of his reliability, it might be necessary.
