New Civilization 5 Expansion - Brave New World
Posted by: Ichabod - March 15th, 2013, 09:29 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (483)

Haven't seen it posted anywhere on the forums, so here you go:

http://www.civilization5.com/bravenewworld/

9 New Civilizations, apparently only Poland is revealed. I bet Brazil will be among the Civs for the first time (haven't seen anything about it, just a guess). Eager to see who they are going to pick as leader, I'm guessing Dom Pedro II.

There'll be "Ideologies" in the game, which apparently are separated from Social Policies. You have to pick one from Freedom, order or Autocracy when entering Industrial Age... Strange.

New Culture Victory.

International Trade Routes. "Will you connect to a closer city for a lower payoff and a safer route, choose a longer route with more risk for the bigger payoff, or perhaps point your trade route inward, sending vitally important food and production to the far corners of your own empire?" - Food/Production sharing between cities? eek

World Congresses (so you can cheese your CS alliances even more!).

Etc.

A player is needed for a pitboss game
Posted by: Gavagai - March 15th, 2013, 05:44 - Forum: Civilization General Discussion - Replies (7)

Hi there, I'm playing a pitboss game now outside of this commmunity and it looks like that one of our players isn't quite able to keep up with it. He asked me to find him a teammate and so, here I am.
The game is played with K-Mod v.1.39. It is primeraly an improved AI mod which is irrelevant for our game as we have no AIs. But it also has some perfomance/balance/game mechanics improvements which I like.
Game settings: randomly generated map, seven civs, normal speed, standard size, big and small (with a patch which allows for luxury resources on small landmasses), huts on, events off, tech trading on (but we have a house rule limiting an amount of beakers which can be traded), tech brokering off, double-moves banned, spies allowed with all missions except "change civics/religion", war elephants allowed (sorry), ICBMs banned until sattelites, full diplo (sorry).
It's T90 now and civ in question is Peter of Russia (we are playing with generic leaders). The civ is in a very good position, both GNP and CY leader, clearly one of the major contenders, if not a favorite. The game itself looks extremely interesting and fun for now, at least from my perspective.
If you are intrested, please post here or PM me. I was asked to find a "teammate" but looking at how things going, you should be prepared to become a permanent sub.

PS http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=2516 - a civstats page of the game, just in case.

This smacks of a filler post.

shhh

This thread is for C&D. I don't know how much we'll be doing but it will be good to keep track of what opponents are up to, to at least some extent.

  Playing in the sandbox
Posted by: CFCJesterFool - March 14th, 2013, 03:54 - Forum: HitHumanHydrasHohoho - Replies (8)

This thread is dedicated to simulating the live save. Why sim? The answer ofc, is that sometimes, based upon team goals, the obvious micro isn't necessarily the best micro to accomplish the stipulated goal. In the sandbox, the best micro can always be discovered! I plan on keeping the sim up to date (so all you micro junkies can sandbox away) until the sim outlasts its usefulness...the early turns being the most important to sim.

Current starting sim...

RBP10 IT and Tech Issues Thread
Posted by: sunrise089 - March 13th, 2013, 18:35 - Forum: Pitboss 10 - Replies (646)

This is the IT and Tech Issues Thread for RBP10. The planning thread can be found here.

The game is now live. If this is your first time connecting please read this entire post carefully. Text in Red will be of interest to veterans.

Access the game via DirectIP connection to sunrise089.dyndns.org:2062. No password is needed (nor will one permit a successful connection) when connecting to the game. Make 100% sure there are no spaces in the field or you'll get an error. Spaces love to crop up unexpectedly, so please double-check this before posting that you can't connect.

The first time a player logs into the game they will be asked to set and confirm a password. This is non-trivial to change, so please make sure you know what it is, can remember it, etc.

In-game you can play as normal. This game is played via sequential turns. Under simultaneous turns and possible sequential (YMMV) you can queue unit actions and builds like normal, even after you end turn. I get asked sometimes, so I'll note you press TAB to chat in-game. When you're done playing please log out via Exit to Main Menu, not Exit to Desktop (it creates connectivity/lag issues).

I have set a 24 hour timer per team for the first turn. Starting next turn the timer to approximate 24 real life hours based on how fast things are moving in game. Of course in the future the timer can be tweaked according to the wishes of the players.

This game uses Civstats to track the turns and other info. This game is here. If you want to register via Civstats and claim your civ the password for each civ is "sirian."

From now on, please let me know if you have any technical concerns in this thread. I can be reached infrequently via forum PM, and easily via email at sunrise089 at gmail dot com and IM at sunrise089 on either AIM or GChat.

- Starting a golden age having just captured the MoM city.
- Building an improvement in the second-ring borders of a just-recaptured city. (If you were the original owner, cultural borders can pop immediately for you, but after you gift it the culture will be reset so you couldn't build the improvement.)
