*shrug* It's only slightly better than an improved plains cheep tile (1 extra commerce). Just doesn't need worker turns.

That said, how the fuck did that get missed?

And that's just mapmakers fault, no good reasoning. I though as I was lushening up some of the deserts that I checked for oases as I did so, but looks like this was one I missed. Grr.

Brick, don't sweat the oasis. Now if we find some grassland FP...

Edit: Old Harry got bit by the same tech-select error! If this is really a difference between sequential and simul, that'd be VERY hard to catch in a sandbox.

I actually think it occurs after player 0 turn ends (the team that is player 0 gets randomised every turn, right?) on T4, that every other civ then has tech automatically selected.

Interesting question: Does anyone know if AI choose techs on T0, or they are automatically chosen by this mechanic?
