isn't it a little naive to expect to get to play in a very narrow window every day when you participate in a game with many players scattered in different time zones? I personally think that every participant should have thought this through as I believe a game such as this generally requires a fair amount of flexibility from all players.... just my 2 cents

That's why I'm on a 3-person team for PB3! Not to mention to have two other people to help catch my

And Jowy was on a 2-person team, but unfortunately RL issues knocked Yaz out.
Seconded with dazedroyalty about the 3-member PB teams.

Not if there is a 24HR turn timer.

I just find this is getting both tedious and frustrating. People are taking this game WAAAAAAYYY too seriously and being melodramatic. The immaturity shown by S+S and Jowy is ridiculous and puts black marks against them both.
I joined RB because of the enjoyment I was having reading this thread, but now I am annoyed at how what was a promising game has been dragged through the muck by petty, immature actions and words.
And Jowy always knew about his very small window of opportunity to play civ, and with the RL problems of Yaz he should have known that this issue would come up. Now, if it hadn't been for Speaker throwing a hissy-fit and ending the turn early, this problem could have been averted at least temporarily.
Its a game, and will never be anything more than that. If both of them had been more mature and respectful when their first disputes had come up, then the resentment between the two of them could not have developed and maybe they would be more willing to work together now.
For what it is worth, I think that because of the problem with finding unspoiled team members now, people should just state their play times and see if they can work something out in terms of the 24hr timer. Otherwise I predict another 3 arguments over this before the next 15 turns are done!
I want to bang their heads together and tell them to grow up, and I wanted to put a copy of this message in each of their threads, but I think that it would only put more fuel on an inferno.

In a 24 hour game, it's fine to expect to play in a smallish window.
What isn't fine, is when the turn split happens. War is always foreseeable, so you should try to make sure that you have 2 windows 12 hours apart. Ideally, get up 15 minutes to half an hour earlier in the morning, and you're all set.

I'm not saying Jowy could pull that diplo off, but I think it's a mistake to only look 1 war into the future, as India seems to do.
Sorry, but that's effing stupid. If that actually happens, I will make a video of me eating every hat I own and post it on Youtube with the title "sunrise is my daddy and I love him".
What I'm trying to say is that will never happen, and using that scenario as justification for Jowy's actions is silly as hell.

BS. Just because it is unlikely doesn't mean it is impossible. It was an example of how Jowy could get to the end of the game in a powerful position, and your refutation is BS.
And that is me being contentious.

MWIN, I'd like to thank you for helping keep everyone calm, aand the situation under control There is a very good chance if you hadn't posted what you did, that this game would no longer be functioning.
I'd like all lurkers to take note that how MWIN acted today is how I, as the game admin and an RBer, would like lurkers in these games to act in challenging situations such as these. A low arousal and non-confrontational manner helps to keep the situation from getting out of hand.

There is such a thing as being so unlikely that it is the same as being impossible. There are so many mitigating factors that would prevent Jowy from pulling off that sequence that it is as good as impossible, not the least of which is the diplomacy necessary to do it. Kathlete and Jowy are very close now, and Kathlete is in a very commanding position given their excellent diplo and expansion while Jowy is whipping his cities into oblivion. And who is going to team up with Jowy? The Incans have a long-term NAP with the Ottomans and will likely be involved with a 2-sided war anyway between the Ottomans and Rome (which will make their alliance even stronger, and Rome more reticent still to team up against Kathlete). Danski hasn't shown that he has the wherewithal to bring down a major power, and the HRE isn't going to be much help regardless with Rome next door. So many weird things have to happen that you might as well say that Jowy will win because all of his opponents could spontaneously implode.
This whole sequence is even more unlikely when you consider the tech advantage the Ottomans can/should start building over Jowy, and the lack of anyone capable of really challenging Kathlete nearby. The CoW required a fairly unlikely confluence of events that could only happen in an extremely small window and only with excellent diplomacy. To say that such a thing will happen again (Two to three times no less!) strains credulity.
Possible, yes. Likely, not even close.
