[SPOILERS]-! Churchill and the natives, a true story.

Quote:I put naufragar on the list because he has good demos, is located next to a weakened rusten, and seems to have plenty of cities. Donovan because im assuming he has a bit more room due to killing off dark savant?
Naufragar has good (not great) demos, but he's going to need to make a move soon or he'll be left behind by other players with as good or better demos and a clear plan. As for Donovan, his position on the scoreboard should be considered informative.

Turn 121- Can he break me?  hammer

I have more power than dreylin/BGN... however its tied up in like 50 archers, and 20 spearmen.. rolf TBS has no real chance of breaking me yet, unless he bumrushes past me with impi's/HA's and takes out a city or two that is more lightly defended. Dtay very well could take Of Mice and Men. But it will cost him most of his army i believe, and that city will be absolutely crushed by dreylin/tbs culture... so no idea what he really gains here. Rusten backed his galley off, and hasnt advanced with his units yet.. so i offered him 10 turn peace, so that i dont have to worry about a sea attack/ our border for awhile. Betting he doesnt take it though.

Also commordore requested 25 gold or something last turn, for Nothing, so i reoffered copper/copper. for 1 gold per turn + the 25 gold. and he declared on gav.. prolly a dumb idea to give away gold anyway, but the hope is maybe its a short war and he can go and pinch tbs a bit? shakehead

"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. [Image: noidea.gif] In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

I went into this game with the mindset of pure aggression, as that is what i remember happening in any random gamespy lobby. Axe rushes, impi rushes, Rush rush rush. the meta was rush, or defend a rush. So finding out no one is rushing you, and your UU is imo, shit... starts the game off pretty badly. I shouldnt have picked NA, but churchill i would pick again. I failed to expand fast enough, and in more directions that werent my "backlines".

Yeah, you definitely built too much military in the beginning.

Your Twinkletoes/turtling defense after Rusten attacked wasn't bad though. Archers don't count for many soldier points but your PRO ones will easily trade for units at least 2x the soldier points.

what i wouldnt give for 20-30turns of unmolested research.. With wealth builds and deleting a good chunk of units i could push to Longbows and really be a fun conquest. I honestly think i could have gotten there in about 10 more turns, had i only had rusten to worry about. What a shame.

Things to remember for future pitboss's-

Expand. Expand. Expand.

Rushing isnt meta.

Even when you think something should be in your " sphere of influence " you still gotta settle it before the other guy.

Never expect a helpful dogpile. Ever.

Native America is not the civ for me.

Things to remember about neighbors-

Dtay- Expands like no tomorrow, likely weak to a late-early game attack b4 currency.

Rusten- Knows how to get an early lead, doesnt seem to be an effective warmonger.

TBS- Holy hell, Mapmakers, dont put me near him please. My only chance of not being food is being far enough away that the game is over before he reaches me.

BGN- Indecisive. Seems to have had an O.K. game, i still believe he would have benefited from going whole-hog vs rusten.

Dreylin- Decent play with getting StoneHedge. Seems to have the same expand problem that i have. Having TBS and Dtay as neighbors probably didnt help.

Took some screenshots, if there is interest i can post them. Ill check back after work.

I think it's more that he ran into someone who has 44 protective, totem-pole archers. That is a seriously impressive defense.

i had 15-20 defenders when he first started the war. he had 5 horse archers to back up his shitty snipe-fail of my city. Maybe that works on other people? but i dont give up cities as easily as others. I spent 100 hammers, that land is mine nod

If he had the stack that he has now, i wouldnt have been able to whip/move units fast enough, and i would have likely lost 2-3 cities by now. ( more than the first from dtay/ one i sacrificed for rusten. ) which would have snowballed to him getting more out of this war than what i expect TBS/Dtay to get. Yeah, you could say i would see the power spike climbing and would have built accordingly, but seeing as Aretas had just been eliminated IIRC, i would expect it to be a defensive build up vs mackoti tbh.

great. I at least hope he took some damage from that. Not much i can do if that didnt take a good chunk of his units with it. Fairly sure i reinforced Harry Potter with more units than my cap. banghead
