Actually, I'll expand a little on that comment.
Pindicator has Japan, and he went MC as his first classical tech. I talk about him using the GE ( to build Mids, that is one option, but the other is to bulb Machinery and access Samurai for 8 strength melee units, the two main counters being HA and Xbows.
I know the forge was present on T60 (I take lots of screenshots for this purpose), and that lines up with him finishing MC eot58 (t58 F6 shows no one has MC, so he one turned it. That means T93 he finishes the GE and T94 he either gets Mids or Machinery.
If I was playing to win I'd have built the seventh settler and completed the Stables quest and hit Pindicator with about 15-20 HA around T85. I can't beat his Mids time now (or rather it is really close and I would have to sacrifice to get it), and if I did I leave him with the opening to attack with Maces whilst defending with POlice State whipped HA.
Bing isn't a threat, SD is now embroiled with yuris and Commodore is less pressing. When stuck in the middle you need to keep your neighbours from cooperating and eat one of them, and on this map Pindicator was always the #1 target. But lurkers like entertainment, and it's RB precedent that players can mess around and play suboptimally, so I'll be doing just that here. Not kingmaking though, and not throwing the game.

mids -> police state -> then some maces is the superior build path. OT4E pulled that off well in pb34. Although the land there was much higher quality...

Pindi can build Mace's in 15 turns. Solutions to managing need to take tech constraints into consideration.
I'm not sure who will build Mids this game.

So I've just razed Akkad which was Bings second city (for thecost of one HA). Nice city too, and I feel really bad about it, but I want to make two observations here for Bing rather than in a turn report:
- Bing, chop more, you had 8 forests and an unimproved horse, so you don't have enough workers and some of the forests should have been chopped to resolve that issue.
- Bing, good job on not chopping, because that massive tract of forests stsops me from progressing any further
Sincerely, this isn't really a war that I feel good about, and I've offered a ceasefire to Bing. If he accepts I'm going to pillage the improvements for a bit more gold to help on the route to Construction and then reposition for defence.
Bing would be absolutely right to be angry and hold a grudge, but given my position on the map I'm not sure that it is a huge issue. We'll see how that develops.

was akkad burned for being strategically important to remove? or just taking advantage of the yuris - sd war to hit the other neighbor?

Akkad was attacked as evidence to SD I'm not going to backstab him, as he believes we have agreed to split the world essentially on a north/south split, he gets Yuri and Commodore lands I get Bing and Pin.
Bing has just pushed south with a bunch of bowmen so I knew the north would be relatively undefended. It is ordinary for people to focus on one part of the map, on one opponent and not consider all the angles.
The city was razed because it is approachable over forests, a road is already in place and his capital culture means I would never jave enough reaction time to defend it. If I had more units and was pressing into his other two visible cities then I would carry on but I have nothing else to gain apart from removing his sentries. This is why I've given Bing a choice and opened diplomacy, I can benefit economically either way (more XP, force him to build more units to replace his sentries, versus reducing unit expenditure.
I might be able to settle for the resources but I doubt it. The city location is a great one, two 5 yield riles and a 6 yield tile is as good as Cherry, and better than Pear. It had granary and barracks and the economic cost to replace it is pretty hefty for this stage of the game. It had horse, possibly his only source and with no HA Bing is not a threat for a while. Bing has shown he can and will cottage and work plains tiles so he will, as Fin, push the tech pace along and I don't want that, so I can't just ignore him because I am in the middle and he pill grow into an existential threat I will lack the resources to deal with later on when I am attacked from all sides.
Was attacking Bing the right move? I doubt it, I think the HA rush of Pin was and still is the right move as no one could interfere and there is an easy route to his capital. Bing has left everything forested and I can't get anywhere.
Will it lead to a more interesting game? Hopefully. We have a full set of brawlers in this game with limited economic boosts, and in the "Blood for the blood god" style we will probably see more battles if rushes are koto successful

What can I say, we were always better at offense than defense.

PB8 is and always has been one of the highlights of the forum and I think we should all hope to reach the level of entertainment that game provided.
