Turn 72

I settled Ninevah Rising, in the northeast, this turn, and Trial By Fire has a spear in it now.

The capital starts its GP thang. I could have synced this up with the tech better if I had planned further ahead.

Is the great lighthouse banned/already fallen? A city s of silver would have 8 forests to chop, when you feel like grabbing a wonder, but might not be great otherwise.

In the ne what are your chances of settling that gold? You probably want the banana first, to support it, but gold would be handy... also what has your chariot found over there? Mardoc borders? Can we have some pics of your neighbour's lands please?

In the west y looks a better filler than x, but I'd suggest both are lower priority if the gold is available.

Also you didn't know you'd get that failgold, so your gp generation doesn't seem that tardy.

How's the East looking?

I agree. Didn't think of things that way before.

Krill, what do you mean by "everything else is memorization"?

Okay, a screenshot of the east is next, by popular demand. smile

OH, the Great Lighthouse is banned, thankfully. Good thought on the wonder-chopping location. I think I agree with you about Y over X in the west, but I'm paranoid of naval attacks from Miguelito's Emerald there. I guess I could block it off with galleys/triremes (and agreed that it's lower priority than expanding outward ... I have come to regret settling Locust Haven so soon after all).

Regarding the gold, it's pretty clearly in Alhazard's sphere, but he still doesn't seem to be going for it, so ... we'll see? I want to settle the hill 'X' to serve as a buffer against Mardoc first, though. My chariot has uncovered Mardoc's borders; he appears to have cities in exactly the same positions I do on his version of the land (Virgin Planet and Dawn's Reverie).

As for the failgold ... yeah, that's true.

Trying not to thread jack so I'll be brief.

So long as you know your win conditions for a game, all you need to know is what will help you get there and deciding the best way to manage that. You need to know the mechanics that grow your output to the level that let's you absorb your neighbours, you need to know your opponents likely options and strategies they will implement to manage your own actions.

For example, you need to know how an opponent is likely to expand and what sort of dot map they will want to do. That means you need to know your opponents, know their tech paths, know what that allows them to do and how to take advantage of them. Despite what most people would have you believe, it requires a hell of a lot of empathy to do this.

Not like there is much profound stuff to say anymore. It's all been said and people didn't understand it.

I don't know what the fuck you guys were reading because I've always avoided open warfare as much as possible. You guys don't seem to understand the meaning of the word peace. In fact if the AP was still in game I think if anyone tried to enforce peace on you the game would crash.
