Krill Wrote:I think we need to stop all lurker communication, either in thread, PM, or off forum, with Speaker/Spullla. As we can see from Sulllas' last post, they are being spoiled by some of the lurkers. We are now entering a stage where their names are meaning they are being treated to everyone else, and that is not fair.
And that is an official request, mark you, to everyone that is watching this game. Spullla have stated that they want to play the game, so let them play the game; they can post all that they want, and the lurkers can read. If you have any questions, post them in this thread, not in their private thread. DO NOT INFLUENCE THEM IN ANY WAY.
I agree with Krill. I saw Sullla's recent post, and while I think it's fine on his end, I can't help but think "why the heck do they know what's being said in the spoiler thread?"
As to the content of the post itself, I agree with Sullla. However I think the "treating others like the AI," "sending overly stilted and formulaic emails," and "being (for much of the game) unwilling to put worth real effort to getting an ally" diplo criticisms still stand. I don't think Jowy or Dantsk or whoever will have the right to complain to S+S about the language of their thread post-game, but I also think the same applies to S+S calling out other civs for banding together.

There are probably people lurking their thread but not here, so you might need a post over there as well. That would also let them know why suddenly their thread becomes a ghost town .

That summed up my thoughts perfectly. Seriously though, did someone PM Sullla or what happened that tipped him off?

PMs or off-forum conversations between lurkers and players should have a blanket ban anyway.
It's a shame to have to ban all communication with them even in-thread, which can be monitored, but it does look like it's necessary. And I agree, it should be posted in Spullla's thread as well.
However, if Spullla asks for a specific question of the lurkers, that should be answerable, no?

There have been a lot of posts in that thread which seem very spoilerish, sadly. Lots of stuff that seems innocent like "Well, why not do it this way?" or "Have you thought about ... " make me cringe when I read them. Why not just ask "What's your reasoning behind your choice?" which doesn't potentially alert them to other possibilities they may not have considered.
I thought I saw someone post in their thread earlier about their perception of talking down to other people, but I don't want to look through pages and pages to find it. I really hope this is Sullla responding to this and that someone didn't PM him.
But that's why I posted in their thread thanking them -- in case a blanket ban does come into effect. (Which would be sad. At the same time, it's sad that there are as many posts in that thread than this one.) Theirs was the thread that drew me into lurking this game as they really do an excellent job in sharing the narrative of the game with the rest of us.

I think an exception should be made for posts asking them to explain certain decisions they made (which techs to prioritize, which builds, and so on.) This is because their thread is such a great learning resource about the game, which serves the community as a whole. I do realize how easily even these sorts of posts can reveal information though.

This strikes me as borderline. "What are your current plans?" is a lot more neutral. Maybe I'm just seeing things.

This was posted in Dantski's thread and I really think this is crossing the line of lurker behaviour! What if other players have misread messages from Dantski? Please stop posting things that can influence the behaviour of any players in this game!

That isn't acceptable. In a lurker thread, you should only ever comment on what has been posted in that specific lurker thread, not on what has been posted in other threads pertaining to the original lurker thread.
You may, of course, post anything in this thread, ask any questions.
