[PB69] Lurking the dreams of summer

Superdeath's production is a real oof moment. 900 less than the rest of the pack (not counting Gavagai).

His capital/start location had to be played a certain way: triple whips to get the production needed to get the next 3 cities up and running.

It's a shame he didn't contest the gold, but when you look at his land I'm not quite sure how he could do it (no food means no production means no culture and the city dies quickly, and he needed to plant to split off a clam which would make the gold second ring anyway). Even then, with the furs he could have made a decent go of it with the only cottage capital in the game (and an Academy would have been trivial, triple whip the library then sit with one clam and two scientists with the other resources split off and slowly regrow as the happy cap allows onto cottages).

That said, I don't think I've ever seen SD do anything novel when it came to economic parts of hte game.

Miguelito ask me if I can restore an missed event:
He is in turn split and was the last player during a turn. He quits the game immediately, but a event popup occurs.
I've found just one event matching his description and can (probably, not tested atm) trigger it again.

What's the option of you lurkers?

Should be triggered.

Hate all the wealth builds from Magic. A lot of those places probably should be building markets (Bolan Mei and Ban) for long term economy (assuming he isn't attacking soon which it sounds like he isn't) and places like Bie should be pumping units. Sure he will have better units than axes soon, but if he actually plans on attacking just having some bulk along is good to keep pushing plus you want to make sure you can't be counterattacked. Yes the wealth builds get him to better units faster, but I'm not sold this early in the game. Its how you get to SD economy's that stagnate in the medieval. Wealth builds can be good for wonder races or if you are trying to hit large jumps in unit tech, but I don't like them early where you have so many more turns for infrastructure to pay off over.

Also, I know he plans to build a lighthouse at his capital, but its T115, that should have been ages ago.

I have no strong thoughts about MS' wealth builds here, but I recall that Plemo uses wealth builds extensively over at CivForum, for what that's worth.

I mean wealth builds later in the tree sure, but building a market now has a long payback time.

IIRC Magic is also PRO, so the markets are discounted. Agree with Mjmd here, building wealth to hit key techs is fine, or if you have "enough" units and infrastructure. With the gunboat diplomacy he's been running so far, Pindi is the only neighbor that doesn't hate him.
