WW20 - GM Notes

SETUP

So yeah, this is a pretty high powered game by my standards. I felt this format of crossover game should be pretty high powered.

The town, instead of the usual vigilante, gets a couple of extra somewhat more democratic day kills in the form of the duellist and executioner. I felt that due to the high proportion of inexperienced players in the game I could include an alignment seer (I carefully made sure this wasn't on an obvious target such as Deckard Cain.) There are also a couple of abilities that could 1 in N chance catch the scum doing the nightkill - the tracker and timeshifter. to counter this the scum were also given a bunch of abilities that could gain them tempo (mayor, suicide bomb which could take someone down with a scum about to be lynch, and the Arsonist stealing a turn from town PR and giving one almost guaranteed kill.) Serial killer was included to increase the game pace early on, although with what's likely to be 3 extra day kills built in, the game will probably proceed at a reasonable speed anyway.

Scum having so much power + a roleseer should probably clue them in that the town is also powerful and they need to be hunting PRs.

Town were also given several ways to shoot themselves in the foot and I expect some PRs to just get randomly killed off with SK+scum in the game or by being outed by the scum roleseer. a theme in this game is double-edged abilites.

TEAMS

I guessed Tasunke's and Meiz's characters would be fairly likely (because of dragon and because meiz selected Korgan in the previous game but then withdrew) but tried not to let it influence the setup

Incorrectly guessed that Novice would try for a reprise of the pirate, suspected that LSL might be zak hoping for another Romeo type role. Anyhow I picked roles that fit the characters here.

So instead of the scum team being primarily lurkers as happened in WW19, 3 of the more notable spammers in Q, Ryan and Tas are now scum. It will be interesting if the town catches on to this. The dice roll has stacked the teams in favour of the town, though, with most of the strong analytical players on the town.

DAY 1

I made a mistake in the wording of the Neighbour PMs stating that they were allowed to talk in their QT at night. actually they should be allowed to talk during day too. Considering that Flug was one of the affected people this is unfortunate.

Unfortunately, following Flug's awkward and suspicious looking entry to the game, he's clammed up thinking that people will interpret everything he does as scummy, which is exactly what he shouldn't do.

In the scum QT tasunke and ryan are spamming it up trying to make elaborate plans. Things seldom go as predicted in this game though so this is probably a waste of their time.

The spam team has so far avoided any major heat (partly because expectations for Ryan and Tasunke are not high following the previous game), and meanwhile azza is being a mildly suspicious lurker as usual. He probably needs to be more active than that, given how the endgame of WW19 went down, he is likely to be lynched later on by elimination if nothing else.

Way too many singleton votes at 2h30min before the deadline. Bad for town. Likely going to lead to a late vote flurry that will confuse the town if it's 2 town up for elimination.

NIGHT 1

Scum choose to fire off the arsonist mass roleblock on night 1, personally I'd probably have been inclined to save it as town were largely at each others' throats on day 1 anyway. Of course since Tasunke is generally lynch bait using it asap to avoid losing it is understandable, and they avoided hitting the jail on zakalwe.

Unfortunately for scum, Gaspar then got taken out by the serial killer (Molach), primarily because he had been hassling Molach. I think he was playing quite well and the lack of a voice of reason will really hurt this scum team.

DAY 2

Well, another setback for the scum, although this one was deserved. Tasunke got himself executed by Meiz due to his bad arguments attempting to link Gaspar and Meiz. I actually can't believe people are discussing Meiz's guilt at this point, he really shouldn't be the priority for today. It seems some paranoia has taken hold, following the scum-on-scum bussing that occured in recent games.

(Now, at this point, due to the low concentration of evil players in the game the town should have a fair amount of options to infight and also mess up each others' abilities. Scum should also hope that the SK stays alive and shoots villagers as none of the surviving scum are likely nightkill targets.)

Q's post 722 calling Gaius an "azza character" with scummy implications is asking for trouble imo (Why has Q not attacked Azza himself?) No one picked up on it though

If bigger doesn't watch it he is going to get lynched just for being annoying and/or roleplaying an annoying character (I've never played that game but research indicated Navi was viewed as extremely annoying so that's the way I decided to take that character.)

Pretty puzzled that following Tasunke's death the town seems to have lost focus and seems unable to put serious pressure on anyone... the lynch was a total mess and novice left it way too late to claim. Now they've lost the jailkeeper.

NIGHT 2

And SK Molach fires at scum again, they're really having a bad break with him... even though Q's untargettable, he's just being shot at because Molach considered him a threat. Fortunately for scum Q is invincible.

As for the scum targets I wouldn't go after Meiz, for the reason that the Meiz-SK theory is gaining some ground and will be a significant distraction to the village if he's left alive. If they think Pind is a strong town PR, then they should just kill Pind, and scan someone else, instead of wasting an action scanning him and then killing him later.

The end result is sure to cause confusion in all 3 factions:

Serdoa swapped Meiz and Novice while Rowain bodyguarded Novice and scum attacked Meiz (resulting in Meiz being guarded and Novice's death)
Ichabod intercepted Bigger's PM to Rowain with his taunt (for a total of 3 redirected actions)
Pindicator tracked Brick scanning Ichabod as town

Molach made a good guess that Q was a commuter.

DAY 3

Ok town have apparently been utterly confused by Tasunke's mass distract on day 1 leading to a mess of reveals and Mattimeo being lynched based on meta. With that said the lynch was a poor one; Too much trying to outguess the GM and not enough actual scum hunting. The reamining evil players are also playing a pretty solid game with Q and Ryan playing close enough to their village behaviour to avoid any real suspicion.

NIGHT 3

No idea what scum expected to learn by scanning Meiz here...

DAY 4

Town starts off pretty well by putting pressure on actually suspicious players such as Azza and the unfortunate Lewwyn, but it quickly degenerates into another round of outguess the GM with predictably poor results. I don't think anyone had a case on Jkaen beyond "I don't think the GM would have put this role in the game" frown

NIGHT 4

The SK needs to start killing scum (hilariously, bigger posted this advice to the SK and then was killed because Molach thought Bigger himself was scum)
