I think on balance I agree it's not a good move for Scootinator. Because they're not planning to go any further than taking one city. Admittedly, it's a very good city, that they can probably take, but what do they do next? Most likely, fight an interminable ancient era war. CFCJester and Nakor are pacifists at heart, but I think they can be goaded to fight.
Maybe it would be a better idea if they had something bigger planned. And maybe Nakor/Jester won't be able to punish them as much as I think. But it sure seems like they're signing up for a premature war.
That said, as a lurker, it's awesome! Interminable war, documented by high quality reporters? Yes please!

I discovered 2 momentous pieces of information abotu geography, both of which make this joke potentially devestating.
dtay is running a pretty great thread, but his views are way behind the vets. Good analysis, good macro, good tactics. Check it out for ancient war done right, and bring the .

Commodore is missing the macro boat here. He's going to expand fast to that NorthEast peninsula which is safe backfill territory, and only expand toward his competitors later. Meanwhile the barbs from that area would be giving him a Heroic unit just from existing garrisons, which he won't get if he settles up fast.
Very glad he found peace with ScooPin though, for the sake of the game and all of their sanity.

Cos I don't need to spam, as I'm not racing to 20K posts...
Jester are screwed, I think they lose hte gold city at which point none of that discussion really matters.
dTays thread is definitely interesting, and TBH I think his thought process is at least equal to scooter et al.
Commodore's land is shit. If he were to expand towards scooter...he has no food resources to use. It's not really rapid expansion to that peninsula, it's just that is the best land for him to settle.

Agreed, dtay is worth following. Definitely indicates what Jowy/TBS lost by pushing so hard for Oracle and the better but further copper city.

Partly because, if he settled fast toward Scootinator, this would be in danger:

But mostly, I think the most important thing is usually to grab the strongest cities you can. Push the snowball, don't stake claims for the sake of staking a claim. If you snowball hard enough, you can change the borders later on anyway. I think his NE cities all have food specials available, while if he pushed south, he'd be grabbing land without any food resources. Still would have the river, so they're not worthless, but not as important.
And even more so as Portugal, on a Big and Small. Islands are worth a lot to him.

Is anyone going to give Dhalpir any advice on his dotmapping? His first option makes me cringe, and his second isn't much better.

He has SH so the second one is fine. I agree the first one is pretty bad...

Is that legal? I know he's a newb, and looking to improve, but this is also a pretty big scale Pitboss.

It would probably be better to not say anything to him about it. But if you think it's a terrible plan explain here in this thread so he can read it later on.
