Turn 133

I thought I was the only one crazy enough to build this...

So I'm building something else instead

Man, Tyr is a beautiful city. Capital worthy, even.

Also, AP? Monk economy coming soon?

It's one of my favorites! I need to grow it to max size as soon as the wonder spree is over. And yes, I'm gunning for the monk economy. We'll try to build most of AP and UoS during the golden age.

Turn 134

I opened the save and found a request

At first I thought "pshaw, gold now > gold later, dontcha know CH?" But then I saw CH was lower in the rankings, and the more I can prop up the little people elsewhere, the harder it will be for their larger neighbors to eat them. And after I accepted I felt vindicated in this decision because dtay is at war with CH! If I had known that I would have gifted him the gold.

We did finish Paper last turn, and that means it is time to start on another wonder. There were a couple cities that are good in production but just a turn off of finishing something; instead I settled on building it in the capital, where I'm hoping the +50% from bureaucracy will help us finish the wonder timely even after the golden age is spent.

We shuffled some tiles to get Madrigal to max production; other cities have grabbed cottages. I guess this is a benefit of building libraries everywhere and academies nowhere; it doesn't really matter where that cottage is worked.

Tandem is also on a max-hammer spree, to finish Moai before it return to working coast tiles. This is going to be my production city of the north coast; we'll build a lighthouse here and then start a bit of a navy.

[Image: pb18%20-%20turn134%20-%20otter%20ferry.JPG]

The last city I can settle with the land I have - Otter Ferry is filler, settled pretty much to grab the bananas that Barry's cities made grabbing about as awkward as possible.

I've scattered in some workshops lately but I think I need to focus more on cottages. Later on I plan on being in Universal Suffrage, and that means having mature cottages and towns everywhere. A few cities will still be designated workshop/production cities, but they will be limited. I should go through and make those designations...

Since I'm building a couple stone wonders, I made a request to Ruff, that I hope is too good for him to decline

And because I'm hoping to trade away the marble for stone, we are going to delay the Epics a little bit. (That and I'm still not sure where I'm going to build National Epic...) Plus, I really want to get CKNs online. I can't believe I've delayed them this long. So we'll do 3 turns for Machinery, 1 turn for Monarchy, and revolt to HR at the end of the golden age. Then likely a diversion to Literature for the Epics before grabbing Guilds, and going on to Divine Right.

Finally, some demos:

That #5 in crop yield is mighty tasty!

Turn 135

Another turn of golden age. Let's look at a couple cities that aren't as important as the wonder builders, but still strong in their own right:

Avernus is the southern of two border cities with dtay in the east. It is one of my contenders for my national epic city, sporting 3 food resources of its own (banana, sheep, fish) and sharing a 4th (pigs) with Llancarfan. I plan on workshopping the remaining grass tiles here to help build the epic, although if I build NE elsewhere then I may mix cottages and workshops and use this as a unit producer for my eastern army/navy.

Tallow has been a studly satellite city for the capital. It grew to size 9 working the capital's rice, and will sit working 7 cottages and 2 hills for a long time to come -- unless I start farming some of it's remaining tiles, but my workforce is a little short so I doubt i will do that any time soon. Once the capital is working all its tiles then the rice will move back to Tallow and we'll grow this city again. So in other words, not for a while. I'm debating on whether I mine or windmill those hills; again, workforce dependent. Production-wise, I want to build a temple here like every other city, but I have a big need of getting missionaries out to bring religion to all my cities, and this seems like a perfect city for pumping missinoaries longterm. Then again, it'll do it rather slow, so maybe it isn't so hot...

Dtay's golden age ended, and I turned up my science to bask in my GNP:

Machinery in 2!

Turn 136

So continues one of the more ho-hum golden ages I've had in a long while. But there's a glimmer of excitement. I mean, when you look at this:

Clearly it's time to build some galleys

Dang, you always seem to draw the scary neighbors. alright

You should start an always peace game or a "no rush 60 turns" game or something.

Oh ho ho, I've got the capacity upgrade!

...that would be a good one for civ carriers too. 3 planes always felt a bit limiting for the investment.
