Gavagai climbs the chaos ladder

There was a post from Pindicator in PB18 where he had a scout telephoned a dozen times at turn role because of how borders expanded. Its worth looking up.

Here, on page 10 of his thread! [EDIT: Also, you can see my explanation of what happened in detail if you scroll further down the page. And after all, it was "only" half a dozen teleports!] And yeah, I get that, Gav: Even with perfect knowledge of how teleportation works, you can't know what'll happen to a unit with imperfect knowledge of which tiles are occupied by rival borders and enemy units! Mig returned me fish for fish but without any numbers attached. I interpret it as "my current intentions are peaceful but I will totally stab you in the back if you get entangled elsewhere, so I don't want to take any concrete obligations upon myself". Well, I can live with that, sort of. Signaled fish for fish back. Commodore shows Physics in two turns. Interesting. If he wants to go Physics over Rifling or Biology or Assembly Line beeline, it means he really wants this scientist. Probably, for a golden age, which will be his fourth one. I have an option to try to steal it. I just ended up with a large overflow of beakers from Constitution research and I have a scientist of my own in reserve, so I can one-turn Physics right now with some research builds. I will trade one Great Scientist for another, so no gain here but I will greatly derail Commodore's plans. Also, Physics is not useless by itself, Airships will be handy. And finally - what a sweet payback for him stealing Economics merchant from me. There are several problems with this plan which ultimately made me reject it. 1) It will slow down my own schedule by about three turns which is quite a lot. 2) I have no idea how many beakers Commodore has invested in Physics. It is improbable but not impossible that he can finish it in one turn if he really wants to. In that case the fate of the scientist would be decided by the coinflip and should I lose the coinflip, I would lose my own scientist for nothing. This scientist is earmarked for a golden age and I have no replacement great person coming anytime soon. Of course, there is an option to wait until Comm plays, login, and change my research but if I do that, I will have to change my nickname to Superdeath-junior and I would rather not. 3) I don't want Commodore to feel he cannot win the game, not yet. If he decides to go Piccadilly road, I will be in a world of pain.
I'll always take a stock exchange financial screenshot.
Any thoughts on redcoats now that you've used them for a bit? England is a civ I've always considered for these large games so very curious on y our thoughts. Financial screen, at full gold and at breakeven. Without Redcoats the war with Piccadilly would not be possible. I mean, look: This is what I have vision on, I am pretty certain he has more Rifles than I have Redcoats. And this is Toku's rifles, built with Theocracy / Vassalage. If I did not have Redcoats, it would be very difficult to handle. And when I face normal troops - well, during the war with Commodore Cuirs defended over Muskets against pinch redcoats. That was kind of neat. I think the main strength of Redcoats is that you can draft it. With the right setup, for a measly price of 31 food you can get out of the gate a unit that would be as strong, as the one your opponent builds normally. This is nuts. The weakness of Redcoats is the fact that they are a one-move unit, so to make them shine you really need Galleons for logistic support. This was also demonstrated in this game, the weakness of my fleet was the reason I lost the war to Comm, despite my overwhelming superiority on land. Overall, I do believe that financial England is a very strong late-game civ but organized Germany is better in that respect. Superdeath declared war on Greenline. What is this guy thinking, that I will just stand and watch? Advanced forth my Frigates. Last warning, SD. I need Greenline alive to maintain culture pressure on Piccadilly's north, this is instrumental for my plans. Founded Mining Inc. At the moment it brings 9 hammers but it will be 10 next turn. Also, costs a crapton of money here as the city does not have a Courthouse. Wall Street will be next build. With Wall Street and Courthouses it should bring in a very slight profit, which will most like slide into a slight loss as I acquire more resources. So I generally like how Corps ara balanced now. My wife was very much amused by this train of galleys but I am so done with Superdeath and his bullshit at this point that I don't even find his antics funny. We are at war. I killed some of his boats and put three Machine Guns at Teotihuacan so that he could recreate the Battle of Khartum if he wanted to. Do you know how many Galleys it takes to kill a Destroyer? We might find out! Commodore displays this interesting defensive setup. Unironically, except for Machine Guns, Cannons have the best odds against Redcoats on defense of all units he has. Also this: Mig ended up with three Great Prophets, poor soul. (June 7th, 2024, 06:53)Gavagai Wrote: Do you know how many Galleys it takes to kill a Destroyer? We might find out! Just how many it takes depends on promotions and luck, but it's ... a lot. I tried some tests with Vodka, and it took much longer than usual to spit out the answer. Maybe because I used lots of iterations and had to use dozens of Galleys in to get any kind of odds, but I suspect because whatever Zulan's server (or whatever the machine is on which the Vodka calculator resides) was laughing too hard to answer for a while. |
Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore |
