RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

So he's threatening to quit playing if he's not allowed to cheat. Waiting forwards Spullla fanboys to come up with some ridicilous defense on how that is completely justified and in spirit of realmsbeyond! lol

I think if everyone is arguing about a single move so heatedly, when many people, including Nakor/DMOC, think that the game should be conceded, it's time to wrap the game up. However, I agree with Adlain that it has mostly been very interesting to watch.

And @ Jowy, as much as I like and admire Spulla, (or, maybe just Sulla) I have to say that Speaker is going too far and isn't acting maturely about this.

@Jowy

Trying to stir up the discussion or going on with it on the level Speaker set it in the IT-thread does not help anyone.

@Krill

Speaker (unintenionally) got me to think about something. I understand that the war-split-rules are in effect to basically get the acting like it is in single-player - one moves after the other.

That means Dantski could not accept a gifted city by Spullla before the next turn. However, when Spullla would have took the city, would they not have been prompted by the game with a pop-up asking if they want to free it back to the original owner? I would think so and if that is true, Dantski would not have to accept the gift, it would happen instantly. edit: The point I am talking about is that also in single-player the city would have been gifted on Spulllas turn.

If both assumptions above are true (that the war-split-rules intention is to emulate single-player-warfare and that the city would have instantly be gifted without Dantski having to accept it) I would think that a reload really is not necessary.

Krill Wrote:Don't really have time to post, but gifting Goa is unacceptable if it is done during Spulllas' turn set. The gist of it is that the turns need to be completely sequential, including diplomacy, in every respect. Probably need to go read the original thread from back in early Feb for the explanation.

No, diplomacy should be acceptable. Also, Spullla are allowed to gift units on their turn; why would they not be allowed to gift cities?

I still don't understand why we are forced to have this discussion. HRE's "gg" e-mail should have put the fork in this thing a long time ago, I don't get why India hasn't responded to it...

I can't see any reason why Spullla wouldn't be allowed to give Goa (ie conduct diplo), but having Dantski move his troops to defend the city would be a bit borderline. Therefore I think HRE would have had a very good opportunity to raze Goa [IF they realise the implication on the cultural control zones, they should be willing to take a few risks to do it].

I have a bit mixed feeling about Spullla (or more exactly Sullla) on this 'affair'.
- He can quite honestly have forgotten (or not known) the rule
But
- He can't really pretend he didn't see my post in time, especially when he was able to spot Athlete mis-posting (thanks to the auto-notification)
So he (very likely) decided to ignore the possible 'rule breaking' by playing on.

HRE probably didn't realise that because :
1. they are already in the 'losing' position and don't care (too much)
2. they didn't look carefully into the log so have no idea that Dantski and Spullla had mixed their attack
3. they might not even be aware of the rule

I agree with the sentiment of just calling all the players together and seeing if we can end it now!

The rule was broken and that's that - there is no other way around it and they cannot say they weren't notified promptly that the rule had been broken. If it has to carry on - the game must be reloaded.

Speaker's acting like a pathetic child as well, and I am very very disappointed in him. If he wants to quit, let him - he's not bigger than the game and I think that he probably wants people to beg him to stay by making such a petulant threat.

@Krill, I think players are not sharing the same enthusiasm as lurkers. If Nakor doesn’t understand the rule breaking then make him understand. But after that, it should be his decision….

Edit: taking back this comment out as somebody pointed out Byzantine vs Ottomans war that also ran into disputes. Isn’t it funny that wars are fought to settle disputes, but here we have disputes on how to fight a war.
