Somewhat interesting, but I just have so little use for any of the other benefits of drama/music right now that I don't think its worth it. Globe isn't really needed until Drafting, and nothing else much interests me.

Maybe the biggest misstep of dtay's game so far. If building culture wasn't enough, how about denying a free GP to another frontrunner?!

You still think this?

Definitely. I maintain that denying a GP to another frontrunner is all by itself enough reason to flip an artist on music. Now we know he would have lost the race anyway, so much ado about nothing.

I mean I'm not sure if that dtay could get to Music before Mackoti.

yeah Mack would have won that race. But dtay didn't know that and should hav tried. Its loking more and more like dtay v Mackoti v plako for the trophy, so that artist is a big swing in favor of Mack.

Also, mack has the best capitol ever!

Can any of the vets comment on WilliamLP and Mindy? I feel like they really should have been able to conquer territory from Bacchus or Retep by now, and that they're just dooming themselves to irrelevence by playing peacefully. But I'm not very good at reading the tactical situation in these games. Do others think they should have attacked, or is building up in peace the best play for them? I know they've been unlucky in their neighbours, but I'm still surprised they're not doing better after what seemed a very nice start.

they made too many enemies. it is so crucial to get one border as peaceful as possible. make no mistake, ai-diplo is still very much a diplo game... they haven't managed it all that well. super aggressive opponents haven't helped, but now they just have too many militarized borders.

I don't think you can blame William for that. retep moved first towards them and then decided to completely ignore his west but to be a troll.

He is closer. If I kill him I hope that he gets to hate Brick as much as I do.

And Bacchus didn't have many other options but to go towards William too (huge jungle to the south). Since then William couldn't let his guard down.
The land north/northwest of William is tundra but he would need a city there to get to the islands. The one good spot to the west is (or better should be) reteps. IMO this continent would have needed 1 start removed (retep) and slowcheetah surrounding strongly bettered to give all of them a fair chance.

Our first team is eliminated, and the game is down to a mere 17 competitors. Best wishes in the future for mostly_harmless, who had the bad luck to start next to mackoti. Relevant self-post in this thread from back in July:

This is from mostly_harmless' thread. I think it may have been overlooked in favor of more popular teams, but it's worth a comment.

Not sure that is the most efficient way, though.

If followed, this is a terrible way to open the game. Build half of a worker, then swap to work boat, finish the work boat, and then go back and finish the worker at size 2. The rush to a work boat makes absolutely no sense; the crabs tile is only 4/0/2 yield. The irrigated corn tile is 6/0/1, plus there's a 5/1/0 pigs hill tile right next turn, and a floodplains tile, and forests everywhere for chopping. This is a start demanding a worker opening if ever there was one.
