I don't see anyone else posting '5-year plan' excel sheets and overall he's doing a wonderful job. Maybe you should yell at him.

Well, it depends. The reason he is doing it the way he is is so that the pop he loses from whipping grows back immediately. That is generally the preferable way to whip. The main problem is that the most efficient time to complete a granary is half food and the most efficient time to whip is 2 food from growth. By one criteria, he is certainly micro managing correctly, by the other he is not.

Anyone else find it funny that Sulla is building a road to Dantski without knowing that Dantski is planning to attack him? (Or at least were planning to last time they posted. It's unfortunate that they are going quiet right as they are deciding whether to attack or not)

Then you know the likely avenue of attack. Not like Dantski is very scary with his axeman.

Given the extensive C&D, it's very unlikely India will be surprised by any attack for the moment. Dantski and Jowy may be talking about teaming up on their mutual neighbor, but for now neither both seem to focus more on growth than military. By the time they would be able to mount an effective attack, team Spulla will have bolstered their skeleton military already, and likely have the means to chop or whip out more than enough units to survive.
I'd still like to see it happen to prevent one Civ becoming the runaway power this early in the game, but the only thing it'll probably end up doing is stunt the growth of Jowy and Dantski's civs. I kind of doubt India will end up far behind the other teams once the dust settles.

I thought that was a rule of thumb only for whipped granaries? I vaguely recall T-Hawk explaining during the Poly game that this didn't grant a massive advantage anyway...
As to Jowy & Dantski, I'm hoping that their 'radio silence' is them co-ordinating actions offline to minimize the risk of (accidental) spoilers. From a post in HRE thread, Dantski mentioned Iron, and that info could well have come from Jowy. If Dantski has researched IW himself then because HBR would have been a much better call. Time will tell...

As said previously by someone else, the granaries should be finished with half the food bar full no matter what. While the effects vary, you always come out with more food if you do it that way, sometimes to the extent of 1 pop point ahead in a 10 turn window.
The best example that I can see is that Gettysburg could have had a forest chopped into the granary and completed at size 5 already, but instead it's scheduled for completion just as the city grows. And they do have the fast workers to make it easier to do that , and I think they just got maths, which would have been the perfect time to complete prechops.

I don't think he'd take it lightly, even though he's seen me plan worker actions and city builds up to 40 turns in advance on occasion, so he should know how to do it. Simulations come in really handy in that respect, but I don't think any team has a perfect simulation anymore?

I think they're still researching Maths so I guess that's why they didn't chop into the granary. It's not always possible to time the granary completion correctly without sacrifice, in this case they would have to chop without maths or work mines instead of cottages. So yeah, they're sacrificing growth by not completing the granary sooner, but they're gaining by researching maths sooner and preserving their forests.

Is Spulla as ahead in the game as they claim? I see their city sizes as 5, 2, 2, 1 and they are not that ahead in tech. They might have gotten a couple of cottages ahead of everybody. But they claim they are way ahead of everybody elseâ¦.
