I don't see anything wrong with this deal, and wouldnt have been upset if it had gone through and the game continued.

hmm, I can't tell what the illegal deal between CF and 2metra was from this thread, I guess I'm going to have to dig into the player threads, as I'm very curious. tomorrow :/

Serious business (<-- yay indiscernible emoticons smile )

Yeah, they're a bit of a paper tiger right now with a completely crashed economy. I have been wondering for awhile how it is that they've had, by their own statement, the worst economy while having the fewest number of cities and running a very small army (up until they drafted Muskateers anyway), and no military adventurism to set them back other than a light stab at Jowy.

Compare that (before the breakout of war) to Cornflake's well developed infrastructure, huge army and reasonable economy. I guess a lot of that is financial, but still.

Still, I think that other players will primarily see the highest score and huge land advantage first over the crashed economy. If TT recovers he could trade his way back to tech parity should he get behind. So I expect TT will be a target once the other powers can put their armies back together.

oi! That was me not paying enough attention the early part of the game, before I took over turns. Someone decided that since we were SPI and built the pyramids, it was not necessary to build any cottages outside of the capital, hehe. Also not necessary to build any infastructure, other than granaries and a few libraries. that was painful - I had to draft muskateers everywhere to build an army from scratch, while building markets and grocers everywhere possible and replacing farms with cottages where I could. (my military vs cornflakes was 90% muskateers, 8% knights, and 2% cats, I just couldnt afford to build armies, could only draft).

I probably overreacted to that - building only infastructure much later in the game when I should have been building cavalry and infantry. Maybe I could have finished the game sooner instead of pushing for tanks, I'm not sure.

here's something that war taught me: Muskateers are really, really fucking awesome. I don't think i realized how good of a civ the French were before this PB smile I still used them heavily vs 2metra, btw, and even if the faux-war w/ Jowy after the game has been called already, so they have a surprising shelf life.

Bigger, I think the illegal deal was "declare war on turn X"
Reply

The deal quoted by Bigger was illegal because Cornflakes was offering something at the same time that he was demanding something from 2metra. Peace deals must be white or one-sided in Civ4. The earlier illegal deal was declare war on turn X, yes.
