T32:
Darn it scooter: I just want to pillage your windmill. Pleaseeeee? No? Okay going towards your capital then. Home: Free Hindu spread. Terrace up next turn. Settler done next turn. Was going to do Settler>Settler>Worker bu I think instead I'll do Settler>Worker>Settler. This way I get the worker out faster doing stuff. 2 workers for 4 cities is simply not enough. I'll be honest this game has been very atypical for me. I usually go for maximizing food and growth. I also usually have at least 3 workers by this point. But I didn't do that this time. Did I chase tech too much? Dunno. All I know is I still feel good about my position even though I'm last in food by a large margin. Serdoa has popped his GM which I assume he settled. That's going to be really, really good. Kudos to him, IMP/PHI is looking even stronger IMO, and I'm not one to like PHI at all. Demos: You can see my food and production numbers are sad because I stunted my cap's early growth working the town. See here's the thing, I didn't have any 3f tiles since Seven nerfed the FP with a workshop and I didn't start with fishing. By taking Inca I was forced to tech first since I needed hunting for the deer, fishing for the crab, mining>BW for the corn. SO I think I played the opening in the most optimal way, I simply am paying the price for Inca. I sacrificed short term gain for a shot at the best long term efficiency. Didn't lose the forest on the deer, didn't lose the village, didn't lose the hill. All these things are in my opinion better for the long term productivity of my cap. But it has cost me in the short term. I'm pretty excited. Let's see if I can get those mids. More updates to come.

SevenSpirits Wrote:Just saw your city names. Kind wish I'd given you "Scissors" to start. I probably would have went with tools then... which could have been very fun. I am enjoying my lizard theme though. When I put up a few more turns You'll see 2 more city names I've picked out, Gecko and Green Iguana.

Should be a good update.
T33: Decided it was simply wasn't worth it and left Scooter to explore more: Home: Settler completed EOT. Will go to pig/gold site. Should help my demos once I get the pig up. T34: Didn't take any shots. Basically I moved the settler, explored a bit and started a worker in cap and a spear in Fire Salamander. Really need more workers. T35: Can see I've started a camp on the jungled deer in Fire Salamander. Gecko is working a lake tile while the pig gets pastured. Komodo grew to 3 and I will have it switch build back to a worker while working the crab, lake, incense tiles. Lots of commerce. Still way behind on crop demos. But not too bad on land and GNP. T36: Worker finished in Lizards. I've decided NOT to build a 3t settler next. Insetad I will build a 2T worker and then ANOTHER 2T worker and get my worker total to 5 quickly. Then I'll finish the terrace get a Q for MP and start the pyramids while growing. When I reach the happy cap I'll whip a settler overflow into mids and regrow on mids. Once I get maths my workers wil chop 5 forests into it. IW finished this turn and Iron popped in the fort like I expected. After having the pasture pop the horses and the mine pop the copper I was fairly sure that's where the iron would be. Next I'll tech Masonry and then I"ll try to grab judaism for denial. Even if I miss Judaisim I want Mono for OR. I'll have Fire Salamander spread Hindu and use the OR bonus in Lizards to help build the mids. After Mono I'll grab Priest>Writing>Math. I like to grab Priest first because its cheap and it makes both Writing and Monarchy cheaper. Plus I'm SPI and building a temple is cheap. I'm going to need 1(or 2 if I get Jews) to pop out a GPriest for my shrine. The bad news is someone else got IW before me. I know based on known tech bonus. Someone else also has Priesthood already. I'm not sure about Masonry. The bonuses are harder to calc because it's getting 2 pre-req discounts. Quite possibly someone else is going for mids like me and they may have a head start on IW and the stone. I hate wonder races. If you lose it ruins everything. Demos: Heh, getting beat all over the place. Never been so behind in the early game before. T37: Worker to the stone. Another 2 workers behind. I had to set tech to 0 to get gold to run through the next few techs. Masonry will be 1T though and Mono will likely be 2T. Priest probably 1T. I have enough gold in one 0% tech turn to get the next 3 techs in 4T. After Gecko grows to 4, I think I may have to get it to whip out a settler, regrow and do it again.

Okies T38:
I started a road on the stone. Will be able to finish road next turn and get the worker to start chopping jungle directly. Then quarry. I'm hoping I can get to maths quickly I am afraid Serdoa is making a mids run. I said someone else had IW: Serdoa has had IW for a while and he probably got Stonehenge with it. The question is did he start the pyramids too and how many forests has he chopped for Stonehenge + workers, settlers. Serdoa is not in Slavery so he hasn't been whipping settlers. I think there's a good chance he's going for Judaism and will switch into OR + Slavery at the same time. It's what I would do. Serdoa's played a really nice game so far. Got his early GM settled to help expand, got IW early and Stonehenge and making a run at mids. I think I might be able to beat him to the mids as long as I get math before him and possibly steal Judaism. If he doesn't have a religion he can't use OR. C'mon FIN! I need 2 turns to get Mono. Demos: Looking better. I'm tops in GNP if you remember Serdoa's Stonehenge. Crop I'm catching up. When I grow my cities a bit more I'll improve my other stats too. Hopefully I can get to math chops fast enough to use them to chop out some settlers in the newer cities. 4 IMP players... man I can only imagine the land will be gone before I blink.
“The wind went mute and the trees in the forest stood still. It was time for the last tale.”
OK, 2 turns for you. Plus two words, Hu-Freaking-zzah
First we start with T39 which was not as noteworthy: I came upon Serdoa's improvements to be pillaged: And followed my guide at home: Demos: T40: This is the big one. I got Judaism. That means no religion and no OR for Serdoa. Maybe he sneaks Oracle and gets forges to get an extra 25%, but I think I'm the only one who's going to be doing that. This means good chance I'm going to be able to land the mids with Math+OR powered chops. Once I get graphs on Commist and Brian I'll be able to tell who else has gotten IW to unlock the stone. For my builds I'm going to finish a Terrace in the cap, build a Q for MP and get a start on the mids. Fire Salamander is going to build a quick missionary to get Hindu into Lizards, maybe even whip it. Komodo is going to whip the worker and over flow into the terrace with OR helping the overflow. Gecko is still young but will start working the gold next turn. Lizards will have a 8 happy cap with gold+religion+Preserve+cap and normal +4. Priest will take 1T, The 1T gold then Writing will take 1T and Math will take 4T with 1 more turn of gold. I'll need a temple in the cap too to get a Priest. Then I'll end up with a bout a 60-40 shot at a GPriest-GE. If I get the GE maybe I think about what other wonders I want. GLib? Serdoa's land: I'm gonna get his Windmill. Then probably go for the Lumbermill. His horses aren't hooked up you can tell by the roads. He has set up his cities in pretty much the same locations I have. Remember he has an incense city exactly where I put mine. SO I'm not doing to bad in city count I think. This turn when I got Judaism, Gecko's borders popped and I was #1 in land area. I think Serdoa has the same amount of cities and he hasn't settled the copper site yet. He went horses before copper. I'm excited for the upcoming turns.
“The wind went mute and the trees in the forest stood still. It was time for the last tale.”
Well Jokes on me.
Serdoa's Rock: (SabotageCost * (TheirEP + 100)) / (3 * InvestigateCost) = Hammers (2609*102) / (338*3) = 262.4 So Serdoa is killing the mids right now and has been for a while. I think he will finish them in 3 turns if he doesn't have any chops going in. Looking back he got IW many turns before me and prioritized it much more highly. I'm not sure that I could even have competed with him for them because if I had beelined IW as early as he did I would not have been able to expand and certainly wouldn't have been able to get my settlers out. IMP was key for him because it allowed him to get out a few settler quicker and immediately start on the mids whereas I didn't want to start them until I had at least gotten 3 settlers out. So my outlook changes. I still have 2 of the 3 early religions and have so denied my opponents in that regard. I'm positive someone else is gunning for the Oracle. So let's think about what I do have. I have FIN and SPI which are both late game traits, play it right and I'll rise to the top. I think I will expand as quickly as possible I will spread my religion and use OR to get quick libraries up. I'll try to out expand these IMP players and perhaps try to build the Hanging Gardens. Build 2 temples and work 2 priests for a GPriest Shrine. Get early Currency+Market. Steal Confu? Get Caste. Expand. Tech. Crush Serdoa.

Not sure if that equation accounts for game speed...I've never seen a C&D equation off by as much as 0.4 before.
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)
Hearthstone: ArenaDrafts Profile No longer playing Hearthstone. NobleHelium Wrote:Not sure if that equation accounts for game speed...I've never seen a C&D equation off by as much as 0.4 before. Well 3 turns from when I said that Serdoa built the mids so I think I was pretty accurate.
