I appreciate the offer Bacchus. I've gotten several teaming offers already -- more than I can say yes to -- so i will have to think about it. I also haven't done a Civ4 game on my own in forever, although i don't know if i will do that if there continues to be such a high level of interest.
I guess i need to think about it. If you get a good opportunity i won't begrudge your taking it

Especially in light of the current goings-on in PB8, I think it would definitely be prudent if I could also act as a game moderator, and in doing so draft up a system to handle a game ending by concession in a way that is much smoother and that all the players can agree on, in case that situation comes up here as well.

Proposal for a concession mechanic:

Krill's proposal sounds like a no-brainer to me. I think it's a significant improvement over what normally happens.

I also see that as a good idea. However we would need to decide on whether it's "every player" or "this % of players", something that seems suited to being put up to popular vote. I like the idea of the more abstract "certain % of land area or population" too, the problem with that is it would require figuring based on each player's demographics, and having to ask for those would break the news that a concession is being asked for by people, or require everyone to post their demos often which isnt always doable.
Any ideas how that would be easily workable or scrap it as an option?

What if the pitboss is hooked up into the observer mode, wouldn't that be sufficient?

When someone wants to concede, they could just post the victory conditions screen, no? That tells land and pop % for domination.
