RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Cats a weird on defence: you need the units to back them up, and I don't think Spullla will have them. I don't think cats will enter into it, what with the tech path that Spullla seem to be taking.

Weren't they going to hug the bottom for the most part? They were throwing around the idea of the Great Lib but that'll probably change since Jowy has tipped them off with his ... diplomacy...

I wonder how fast they would be able to get to LBows with their crazy research... The posted tech tree by Speaker ends up with HR + Lots of military police to work comical amounts of improved tiles anyways. Lbows before turn 100 maybe judging by the fact that they can research HBR in 5 turns.

Fued = 1200 beakers
HBR = 300 beakers.

Maybe t110 for Fued if they head that way?

TBH LB aren't that great, the enemy stacks still need to be attacked, and LB are expensive for attack troops. Axes and spears, double whipped from 4 hammers are probably hte correct way to go about it, along with a half decent HA/chariot stack to provide flexibility. Defending in cities just to see cottages ripped up is a losing strategy.

Jowy's faction review is up. Spullla War with Jowy starts @ 85, Dantski @ 90, and everyone but IKZ and Korea @ 100.

I had a good chuckle at "Sharing our lands 50-50 isn't a sign of friendship at all. If they wanted to have me as an ally, then they should have g(iven) me more land...". Because we want our friends to win the game...

I still think he's a little paranoid. How is SPullla going to declare on him when they have no army? Seriously.

EDIT: Also, Rome thinking about attacking India. I wonder how the logistics of that would work? The shortest route is the inner shore of the Donut but there are no roads or anything else. Plus he wants to attack Korea and Korea is in a massive build up. Seems like he wants to do everything at once.

I think Rome is going to attack after the Korean war is in hand/finished, but only with2 galleys with 4 preats on board. It's not really an attack in its own right, more like reinforcements.

Hi, I've been lurking in these threads for a while now, but only now decided to register!

What I don't understand yet is why teams like Rome want to get involved in the Spulla war. I would imagine they would be better off becoming best buddies with India as the 2nd powerhouse and tipping them off. It may seem slightly 'dishonourable' but I don't see how they gain anything from this war!

They won't gain any land and if they destroy Spulla, the two neighbouring teams will make the huge gains - as India's land is so profitable.

The real question is will Rome go to war, if Rome discovers that Korea has Coppersmoke. I think Whoist got a problem with whipping, which is delaying his war with korea. Why can't he understand the fact that Korea is not AI and they will do what ever they can to get copper...

I am going to laugh so hard if Korea actually gets contruction before the Korean War smile

It may actually happen at the rate that Whosit is playing this game.

Jowys views seem odd to me - 50:50 split of land pretty seems friendly behaviour to me! smile

Turn 85, 90 + 100 attacks might be good news for Spulla... I was having visions of 3-4 stacks hitting them on T100, which would be far nastier...

Twinkletoes - I wondered about that - half suprised somebody hasn't tried to ally with them yet. On the other hand, they really are running away with things economically and there's no tech trading. Wonder if Jowy might decide hitting Dantski is more important than India?

Was thinking about it and IMO Kathlete are being rather clever. They're pointing to Indias runaway economy, orchestrated a coalition and they're 'nothing special' themselves. Meanwhile their maps make it look like they're ready to slam into full economy mode after their war with Byzantium - lots of land, seems they've got lots of cottages ready to finish, a holy city and so on. Think if it all goes according to their plan they'd be the next runaway player? Probably happening while everyone else gets bogged down fighting... smile

It was this pic that got me thinking about it:

Sure, they might be the next team into the lead but right now it's India and I don't think anybody has any illusions that unless something is done very soon to stop them then Speaker and Sulla are just going to run away with the game. I don't think anybody is going to purposefully do something to stop a hit against that team as it's not in anybody's interest if they want to win (maybe if they were playing only for 2nd place).
