DaveV Wrote:I remember trying the disband trick in SP, and the Moroi in question turned barbarian instead of being deleted (which actually seemed fairly well balanced, IMO). Did you have better luck with the disbanding?

No, they go rogue. What I did was have the unit summon a Spectre, then disband it, then have its own Spectre kill it smile.

DaveV Wrote:And nice avatar switch: if you can't beat them, join them?

Exactly!

darrelljs Wrote:That pales in comparison with Nox Noctis. I knew it was coming, and I think I have an idea, but its unfortunate nonetheless.

Well, so much for my idea frown. I tested Impersonate Leader in a hotseat game and it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone have experience with this ability in an MP setting?

You know, strangely enough this post makes me think it should work in an MP environement.

Here is a good article to supplement what Dave already posted. Looking in the XML file, there is no modification to resistance for Entangle. Let's say I get everyone up to level 8 (Death II + Mobility + C4 + Magic Resistance + Commando. Let's say ubefish's Druids are level 5.

Resistance = 21% + 7*5% + 20% - 20% -5*2% = 46%

Doesn't sound bad does? Now take into account he has four Druids. Odds per unit of resisting are 4.5%. So a stack of 100 Vampires...4-5 are still free. I think this implies I need many small squads of Vampires attacking at multiple points along the defense. I simply can't concentrate forces. I need to overwhelm him with numbers.

Impersonate Leader is a huge cheese move IMO and should always be banned.

Yeah, well it's not :neenernee. Not that it matters since it apparently doesn't work, but I'd have no qualms using it.

Next horseman?

No, I somehow forgot Ilios now had 3 move units, and settled a city too close and too poorly defended. So I lost it too. I swear I need to regain my focus on this game frown. Playing it in the morning instead of rushing at night is a good start.

As I whined about before, I lost a city:

The force to kill the third Horseman:

Those Spectres only attack at strength 3, but it was still enough to get the job done. This bodes well for our attack against Iliios. I need to really boost my defenses, everything right now is geared towards offense. That's great and all, but at some point I should probably stop losing cities on a consistent basis. One thing that's for sure about uberfish, he's a very methodical player that won't make silly mistakes. His game is optimal, or as close to optimal as possible from both a strategic and tactical level, and I need to play more like the beginning of pbem17 than the end of pbem4 if I want a shot at winning. He's already swept the key wonders (Guild of Hammers was a big blow, I could have fired a golden age and at least raced him for it). I don't know what's taking Amelia so long with Arcane Lore, but it looks like he might get there first. Okay, so anyway here is what Nox Noctis looks like:

After some searching I found it in Hyll:

That's the Fellowship of the Leaves holy city no less. The approach:

Red lines mean roads, so you can see he didn't build any connecting Yonna and Hyll directly. Still, this does look like a viable approach, if I can avoid any Entanglements along the way. Military:

Be nice to have Losha Valas and seven more Vampires.

39%.

I explained what Nox Noctis was to sunrise089 and further that we had 0% chance of beating uberfish in a culture or tower race. He was less than happy. He was also one horseman behind on our saga lol.
