It's all part of being the prohibitive favorite :neenernee. The underdog who keeps plugging away against long odds gets a lot more love around here.

More impressive than the invasion is how hard you just played us lurkers into starting a firestorm of lurker posts. Nicely done thumbsup. For your efforts here's one more.

So cut to the chase - Commodore got an MG in Kiki - here's the setup:

After sending in all the cannons and most of the cats, we're left with this:

C1 Rifle vs. Machine Gun 8.5/18 (34.7%) = LOSS, no damage
C1 Rifle vs. Machine Gun 8.5/18 (34.7%) = WIN!

This left a bastard CG1 rifle as top defender. We sent in the last 3 cats leaving this:

C1 Rifle vs C1 Rifle 9.7/14 (46.1%) = WIN!
C1 Rifle vs D2 Cannon (68.8%) = LOSS, cannon to 4.1
C1 Rifle vs D2 Cannon (68.8%) = LOSS, cannon to 1.4
C1 Rifle vs D2 Cannon (68.8%) = LOSS, cannon to 6.7

(At this point Noble rages about letting me play the turn)

C1 Rifle vs D2 Cannon (68.8%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs CG1 Rifle 6.9/14 (68.6%) = LOSS, rifle to 2.4
C1 Rifle vs CG1 Musket 5.7/9 (86.3%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs CG1 Longbow 3.8/6 (95.6%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs CG1 Longbow 3.8/6 (95.6%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs CG1 Musket 4.8/9 (95.8%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs C1 Musket 4.5/6 (98.1%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs C2/Pinch Knight 7.3/10 (96.9%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs D2 Cannon 6.7/12 (99.1%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs CG1 Longbow 3.1/6 (99.1%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs D2 Catapult (99.9%) = WIN
C1 Rifle vs C2 Landsknecht 3.3/6 (99.9%) = WIN
C3 Knight vs. CG1 Rifle 2.4/14 (99.0%) = WIN
C3 Knight vs. C1 Spearman 2.0/4 (99.9%) = WIN
C1 Knight vs. Axeman 2.7/5 (99.5%) = WIN
Knight vs. D2 Cannon 4.1/12 (99.7%) = WIN
Unpromoted Spearman vs. D2 Cannon 1.4/12 (98.8%) = WIN

That was indeed satisfying.

Noble will finish the turn later.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Spearman vs cannon with 6 attackers left to go? Not too shabby.

Here's the standoff between davy and Mist, and Mist's new city which I can't really agree with. We have a lot of per-city bonuses but he only gets one specialist...and that city only picks up one additional tile besides the city center.

Last turn the rifles were quite damaged but they're mostly healed now. Mist also revolted back recently into Theocracy and picked up Nationhood, suffering another turn of anarchy. It seems he also instantly became Hindu again - I thought you needed to re-revolt after going into FR? I guess not, good thing for him. davy got an Artist last turn and started a GA this turn. You know he's mostly checked out of the game when he doesn't bother to rename his GG, though.

As for us, I stuffed another four CKNs into HoA from Cathedral. In retrospect I probably could have moved the Pikeman in as well, since I left two CKNs and a Rifleman in Cath. I also picked off a Longbow in Callix with our Infantry situated on the hill outside it. The Galley (best industrial-era Galley ever) went to pick up the second Infantry and a Rifleman to reinforce HoA next turn. We may suffer heavy casualties but the city should hold. Hopefully most of the Riflemen will survive to promote. The third GG was settled in Caldeum.

Interesting mechanics note - the former site of Kiki now only has a road. The railroad was demolished when we took the city, didn't realize that happens.

Nope, the moment you revolt into FR you lose the religion, moment you revolt out you go back to being in that religion. Otherwise it would have been too costly to use that civic, an additional cost that limits choice. blah blah good design decision etc.

Though what happens if you didn't have a city of that religion to "revolt" back to I'm not sure. Probably don't "revolt" to any religion.

So what you're all waiting for is this:

White box = frown

Yellow box = lol

We picked off a couple units during the turn - here's the situation outside Halls of Agony now:

Noble is pretty nervous because we saw a couple Cannon that can get to the front through Commodore's nascent rail network. I think we're fine. So fine in fact, that we opened up a new front. lol

Obviously expect another MG in Kusari next turn. But basically this opens up two benefits - If he underdefends the city, we raze another key producer for him when he's already just lost 2 10+ pop cities; if he pulls units away from a potetial HoA attack, then that gives our units time to heal. Anyway, I don't actually think we'll be able to raze either city next turn, but we'd certainly happily take the opportunity.

That's really the news of the turn. We finished off Railroad and will save gold for a turn or two before burning through Astro > SM > Physics/Combustion argument (I prefer Physics, ConservativeHelium prefers Combustion.) The Capital finished off the Coal Plant this turn after finishing the Factory last, and is ready for a Pentagon push. Noble says that Pindicator miscalculated and we'll need to starve it a bit running an engy to get it done in 6t but I don't really listen to him when he talks about that stuff because he's dour and uninteresting.

Would look good with Ironworks, perhaps, but that's ticketed for this badboy:

Crown Jewel of former Turkey. Not bad considering it was founded like 15t ago. Speaking of which here's an overview of most of former Turkey. Rounding out nicely, I must say. cool

Somebody's been whipping. And getting cities razed. In a golden age. lol

Here's demos. No tech selected. Lost a lot of power, though we're not alone there.
