Blast it, Lew, you beat me to a better answer. Nice analogy.

Between me really being infinitely less interested because there's really no way for us to lose this at this point, working lots of long and late hours and this girl who won't leave me alone, Noble's been making most of the decisions lately. He must be doing much better without me holding him back, eh Krill? :oldwink:

@ Commander Data. Also, this girl who won't leave you alone, she's not into Civ V, is she? :neenernee

Yeah, turning off a blender by sticking your arm in would be rather painful. But if you've got a big enough arm (or small enough blender), it'll still work. I know that collateral gives its wielder a dramatic hammer advantage in war, but I find it hard to believe it's more than 3x. That's all.
Anyway, I suppose in real life terms you might end the game as quickly going for elegance, since the turn pace is bound to slow down immensely once war breaks out. A blitzkrieg should need fewer war turns than a meatgrinder.

One other thought: I haven't seen the victory conditions screen in ages. How likely are you to get a concession/domination win by invading Mistabod? That would feed less hammers to the blender and would likely net you a large chunk of territory. You could then use your interior lines of defense (railroads) and collateral, as well as your 3x hammer advantage, to play defense against your tech near-equal, Commodore, while sweeping the map. Is this something you have considered?

The easiest path to domination is probably chewing up Mistabod and Sirian'ing Dave. But Mist has been good enough to us all game that it would seem fairly chintzy and Commodore is our natural enemy, so it would be more satisfying to just kill him.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

I don't actually play Chess. I think the reliance on memorizing openings and endgames detracts from the game, for one.

For those of you wondering the source of Noble's new avatar:
Mild PBEM34s spoiler:
This conversation happened like a week ago but is part of an ongoing debate where I tell Noble he worries about what Commodore is doing too much and he argues that nothing could possibly be more important in life than knowing exactly what Commodore is doing. I'm pretty sure he basically has the Joker's grin on his face everytime the airships fly over Holy Rome. Anyway, that's the backstory. By this logic of course my avatar should be a tank rolling over a pawn. :oldwink:
