if CMF joins up we would have 7 people. would we be better off making 2 separate games at that point?

You cannot pillage City-State tiles except for farms and fishing boats.
--Workers repairing doesn't cost anything. So you can pillage tile, let them repair, and pillage again. Slower game speeds makes this much worse.
Resource hiding ban
--Upgrading units is better than building them. You can make this artificially happen by blocking yourself queuing stuff you don't intended to build and then rushing the lower tier unit. Normal speed, no "obsolete at plus 2" rule from BBG, faith-buying and upgrade policy cards makes this much worse.
City-gifting
--This rule is to stop a salty losing team from gifting all their cities, among other things. No diplo means players cannot speak during a game. This means it would actually play out by a player requesting the trade in their threads and the lurkers then approving it.
Declaration of Friendship blockades are okay.
--Yes you can actively block. Also IIRC correctly the who got proposed the DoF gets to Declare war first. There are no rules stopping that person from camping units, waiting to attack. CMF won a game against Archduke doing this. Hey there, thanks for the explanations. So I guess the different views on the game speed will be the road block for a merged game then.
Still, have fun

Unfortunately, such a system makes too much sense to be present in Civ VI. the DoF actually just expires on the turn roll, so no matter who proposes or accepts the original offer, it's the player who is first in turn order that gets the first strike.

We have enough people if you join to start a 4 man game here with default settings. I would like to hear from you and any other perspective players on whether we would want a 4 man game on RB (5 if chevalier can join as MJW suggests), or if we would want a bigger, 6-8 man game on quick speed.

That's just dumb. Do you guys want a rule that the person who got proposed to gets to DoW first?

hmm.... if CMF and TAD are really both down and
PB75 spoilers (this means YOU, greenline )
that maybe takes me up to a maybe. if i do play, i don't really care about quick vs normal speed and would have a slight preference for the 8-player mega-game

I am up for something interesting. As a rule, I find that games get more interesting once it hits 7 players (doesn't matter the game, that's just the critical number not to fall into obvious alliance groupings).
Because I have no idea about how to play the game, I am easy when it comes to game settings. Usually I say a turn a day is the necessary pace to maintain interest but I am in getting more flexible in my old age.
Current games (All): RtR: PB80 Civ 6: PBEM23

I suppose I should stop being the curmudgeon here and give a go ahead to join the civforum game and settings given that other people do not mind them. Do we need to do anything else to set the game up?
