PBEM4 - Email and Technical Issues

Kylearan Wrote:I think I wouldn't have participated in this game if I had known beforehand that demographics would be out, but I will play on now of course - it will still be fun, only a little less so. But I'm against diplomacy in this gane and will drop out if it will be allowed. This is not meant to be a threat, but I simply lack the time for something like this and would have to find a replacement player then, sorry.

Ah, np, keep it as it is then. No one will see me WE stack coming then smile

Hey, let me remind you that you're only allowed to proceed in diplomacy with those you've met in-game, and also that this thread is not a place for you to perform diplomacy. This thread is for email and technical issues. EDIT: Thx for the quick edit Strike smile

Its still cull's turn?

Did he forget to upload it again or is there some other reason for this delay?

I am not going to rant, but I do feel that if people should only play this kind of game if they can do so regularly and if something comes up and they cannot play a turn they should arrange for someone else to at least play their turn for them.

When I joined the game it was intimated that it was likely to be one or two turns to day, especially at these early stages when turns literally take a minute or less.

But with certain people regularly taking 2 to 3 days to play their turns its looking like it will take a year or two to play this game start to finish.

BTW I know its not everyones, some people seem to always play their turn within a few hours no matter what time of the day it is for them, and i do really appreciate this and am sure everyone else does as well.

Hopefully we can get the game back on track and stop people losing interest.

Thanks smile

The bad news is I am on vacation next week. The good news is regoarrarr can play my turns. The bad news is he is out starting Wednesday.

I hate to say this, but I think we need to start discussing the issue:

We may be moving faster than the greens game, but it's not been a good pace. Our game's been going for three and a half months, and we're on T64: barely averaging a turn every other day. More recently, 2 weeks ago, we were on T59. That's a turn every three days.

The past four weeks, it's mostly been Whosit because his laptop died (can't expect those types of problems to happen). Whosit, do you think if a dedicated lurker was found who could play the turns, you'd do it? Or is the laptop likely to be fixed/replaced in the next week or two? I know it's not all been on you, but this game does need to get to at least 2t every 3 days instead of 1t. We do have some time while Darrell and his sub of rego are out.

OK, I need to apologize for a couple of reasons: Not checking the forums much lately, and late notice: I will probably completely lack net access for the next week, and certainly no Civ access. However, a week from now, I should have a new PC with stable net access, so I can resume playing my turns regularly each day.

This black-out starts in, um, like six hours (during that time, I will be sleeping). I'm moving, and have been a bit pre-occupied with that. It's possible I may find a way to check the forum in the next couple of days, so if there's anyone who can run the turns for the next week, I can do that, otherwise, I can only apologize for basically putting you all on a week's pause without prior notice.

But, but... in a week, it should all be better! Promise!

And then everyone dogpiles me. lol

If that Civ 5 promise of a graphics mode with flat 2D representations works out as promised, that would make these games a million times easier to keep moving, playing on laptops or work computers or whatnot. That alone might be a reason to play Civ 5 MP instead of Civ 4.

Very true on CIV's launch today, but what computer won't play it now?

My work laptop I use to play turns is a Core2Duo (Conroe, or the mobile equivalent...so first gen of that architecture, 2006 tech) with integrated graphics. I don't like playing FFH on it, but one turn of a pitboss or PBEM plays fine with graphics options turned down to minimum.

Do people have laptops bought in a last 3 years that can't play civ period?
