Right in what way? You claimed that Com's reputation is all that prevents him being invaded by scoopin. Ceil asserts tech and pop are the reason (which is the primary true reason IMO) and I posited a supplementary meta reason that is also true. Not sure what else to say unless you're just trying to be obstinate?

Re: TBS and the island sale, I think scoopin have every right to be irritated. They didn't tell Nakor to play shamelessly bad in defense. They played the hand they were dealt. I would also be miffed that Mack is getting a sweetheart deal if I was them. The good news is that it isn't spite motivated, just another example of mackoti having the best civ instincts. The guy never seems to fail to create favorable opportunities and then ruthlessly execute.

The incident of TBS selling cities cheaply would have been prevented by that rule, but the "gifting" done by M_H and Nakor is far more damaging to the game. How do we block that?

Only have players that play at roughly similar skill and commitment levels.

I really don't see much difference between them not wanting to attack Commodore because of his reputation vs. because of his reputation from a previous game based on first-hand experience.

Ok, thanks for clearing it up.

I would go with: no city/unit trades/gifts, and no peace treaties (only ceasefires).

Or you could just play always war, but that's not so great for simultaneous turns.

This.

Almost all Pitboss games here feature a huge disparity in player skill level.

TBS had only the choice between sell them to Mack or get them taken by force from Mack in some turns. Those cities weren't that great and useful so imagine if Mack simples blockades them and then comes in some turns and takes them anyway.

Mack has outplayed them here and for the moment the Vikings pay the prize that they have currently not the strongest Fleet.
