Nope. Trade routes should keep him afloat.

I have an 8 gold and 7 gold trade route with mackoti which is providing the bulk of my commerce. That plus the base palace commerce, tile yields, and Bureaucracy bonus, I could easily be supporting a bigger army than this.

Just commenting since they did, I don't see anything wrong under the current rules with william's offer to give those island cities back to commodore. since this game i haven't been enforcing "no city trades ever" and it's a trade with purpose/tangible benefit for William, doesn't seem to be going against the spirit of the rules to me.

I wonder if Commodore takes the deal as he would be forced to live with - as he calls it- "dotmap failure".

I think Mindy has it absolutely right that this war with commodore was a mistake from William. He would have profited more had he taken out retep sooner and ignored that island.

Two word answer: Free Market. Even if those cities are garbage, look at the other cities Commodore recently settled (profitably). Those are two more trade route cities, so it's worth it to hold his nose about the dotmap failure.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

Pindicator is missing the advantage of attacking Bigger: it keeps naval units in theatre to deal with mackoti. It's probably best to keep war with mackoti until units are in position to then declare on Bigger, with the aim of removing Bigger from the game in 10 turns. They could reoffer peace when they are ready to move against Bigger, or just try to juggle commitments.

That and Bigger has more cities to capture than Commodore, so the prospective pay off is larger. And after the east coast is dealt with they can go back to trying to take cities from Bacchus and keep a hold of them, with the long term aim of simply owning more land than mackoti.

Plus I think Bigger is pretty gassed from fighting Azza- who he hasn't even defeated yet, and must have accrued a fair amount of WW.

Pretty sure knights at half strength do not beat axes since the axes have more HP to abosrb hits from the knights.

Scooter seems pretty on top of all this, I think he's made a good enough case that Pindi will avoid poking the Commobear. I can't see this game -not- getting to the modern era now. Pindicooter and Mackoti are travelling neck and neck right now.
