Are you, in fact, a pregnant lady who lives in the apartment next door to Superdeath's parents? - Commodore

[Spoilers - Flauros (sunrise089 and darrelljs)]

With turn 50 approaching, it'd be interesting for the lurkers to compare the positions the players find themselves in. With that in mind, could you please give us an update for turn 50, with some screenshots?

1) The overall empire - what cities you have (F1 city list, perhaps, to see the food\production\research per city in a single screen)

2) What technologies have you got?

3) What luck you had with goodie huts this game?

And anything else you'd care to add, such as diplomatic situation from your point of view, expansion plans, any other random thoughts et al.

Thanks!

P.S. This is cross-posted in every player's thread.

Sure, no problem smile.

Okay, nothing much happened last turn; the previous overview map shot should suffice for the t50 update. Octopus Overlords was founded, and another Great Sage was born (I love the Vamps but dang I miss Elder Councils). In not great news Perpentarch built Loki.

City screen:

Totals of 8 pop, 9 hammers and 24 beakers. Those beakers have bought us Agriculture, Crafting, Ancient Chants, Calendar and Education. Prespur:

After the Worker, we'll roll right into a Settler. Our second Worker is busy building those. The third Worker will road and prep the new city site, and we'll have one Worker per city (which means we need more Workers).

Nubia just finished a Bloodpet, and will build one more before CoL comes in and we start a Governor's Manor. I think that is a better next build than a Monument. Finances:

We lose 1 gpt at 90% research rate due to a city upkeep of 3. Military:

Obviously the Axes are the key. We got a few low gold hits from huts (just low enough to miss a free Great Prophet) and the Axes at the cost of 2 Scouts and 2 Bloodpets. I'm sorely jealous of the teams that got to settle a GP, but them's the breaks. Oh, we also got Hunting which we aren't going to be able to leverage anytime soon (but at least the soldier points act as a deterrent). Demographics:

Pretty lousy.

P.S. sunrise089, you are up for 10 turns smile.

How will you guys deal with Loki should he come your way?

We were just IMing about that smile. He's a two mover so technically he could road into Nubia from 3 tiles away and flip it. That would be bad. We will attempt to guard against such a thing happening of course, and last resort is a declaration of war.

I'm glad sunrise089 is up for the next 10 turns.

The quick answer, assuming we're not missing anything, is that our city is surrounded on 7 of 8 tiles by either peak, hill, forest, or jungle. Loki is a two mover and spells (as opposed to bombardment) in FFH can be cast after moving. But as long as he has two and not three moves (via a promo available after researching a tech...we're not there yet though) he can't move into our city and flip it before we can declare war. The risk is the 1-move tile, but we should have visibility two tiles away via our peak. So if we see Loki we DOW. Once we're in position to clear the tiles in front of the city we'll have to make a "no Loki" treaty with the clowns or else preemptively declare.

What happens to your garrison units if the city gets flipped, anyway? They get expelled like normal? And do the Balseraphs get free garrison units like a normal culture flip?

My vague recollection is the city does not get a garrison and the units get expelled unless you have OB.

If they used up all loki's move and THEN flipped the city... well he is just asking for trouble. While Loki can flee and escape from combat in the open i believe that if attacked in a city he just dies instantly.

In other news you may be interested to know that Ilios apparently settled 2 cities aggressively towards Sciz without warning, who doesn't seem inclined to do anything about it at the moment. I'd keep an eye on him if I were his neighbour smile

darrelljs Wrote:We don't mind a NAP just to show you we are serious...say until t100?

If he built two Settlers by t50, he's go to be vulnerable to a strike.

Clowns built Loki last turn...sunrise089 said you thought they also had three cities. Is that from C&D or do you have hard data? Loki AND 2 Settlers by t50 seems pretty tough to pull off. If they did build two, none were toward us.

sunrise089 verified in game that the clowns do indeed have 3 cities. So that makes two teams with a third city before us frown.
