Thoughts: StM has 2 forests left in his capital. 17 total.
So that's 160 hammers difference right there. 4 workers. For us, anyway. The starts look decent. We got 1 food more but he got 2 more hammers, but then he needed Hunting but we all need that sooner rather than later. But those hammers help him get his granary pretty fast. He didn't overlap his cities so slowed his start down, and might have trouble working all of his tiles later on in the game. Also, I want a city on NoSpaces continent, 1W of the sugar to steal that banana from StM. We might not get a chance to get ours because of the lay of the land. With Currency that means a lack of OB only costs us 2 cptpc. I do like the look of that one tile island though. So, let's role on the REX. 500 hammers, so basically we have our missing 7 workers plus 3 settlers with spare change. This is going to be fun ![]()
It'd be nice to save the forests at Brazil for Oxford (takes about 6) and the forests at USSR for the Mausoleum (takes about 15

That one tile island would be a huge strategic asset to control, but would also be a huge target...it may be better if we can plant a city near it to get cultural dominance over the tile (to prevent others from settling it) without actually settling it until maybe later. Remember, that island can be settled at any time, since you can plant two tiles from a city if it's on a different continent. Just need to make sure that our culture owns that island. I'd probably have made the center island a plains hill if I were plako, but eh.

I still say chop settlers, but point taken, and it would be nice to not completely ruin the economy.
Quote:That one tile island would be a huge strategic asset to control, but would also be a huge target Not really, with how the tentacles are positioned. It's just another city, and we already (would) have 2 cities that give IC TR.
A one-tile island not on a hill in the center of the map would not be a target for the other players...? How do you figure?

I disagree that it is strategically important, especially if we settle on the banana on the end of our continent, which is the only place we can settle and still have a workable dot map. If and when we settle on that banana, a city on the one tile island just makes it easier for our cities to get forked, and the only resources it brings on we already have. And it pisses off the other players.
OK, micro points:
Brazil: grow to size 6, triple whip settler, or size 4 for a worker double whip USA: double whip settler, overflow to wb and regrow to size 4 and double whip a worker, overflowing out the wb. India: overflow light house? Regrow and whip settler? USSR: whip granary t56, overflow and build wb? Maybe borrow sheep? Japan: chop Granary, double slave settler at size 4? Needs 2 cottages. Thailand: whip wb at size 2 for tentacle cities? Workers: Blanka: cottage the forest at Brazil for the chop. Zangief: chop forest 3 of Brazil for worker. Honda: single cottage then chop the forest 22 of USA? Guile: chop forest for lighthouse then road to Purple? Dhalsim: road to red? |
