Sent this to nospace:
Darrell Wrote:Okay, I am glad you did not play the turn yet. First off, I would like to apologize for what happened. I held off apologizing because it would be quite empty if there were no in game actions to follow up. So, please offer me a cease fire this turn. I will accept on my turn and offer you Thailand. You can then accept that offer and re-declare war on me. It doesn't make up for breaking the deal but at least its something. I'd say we give them five turns to reinforce the city at least, and prepare a small stack to try and retake it in the meantime. Darrell
Krill's reaction is...surprisingly tame.

If Darrell had said we weren't going to attack Thailand it would much worse. As it is, I see where he is coming from.
I still think it is dumb though. But hey, I can shed the DL status at any time, it's a very relaxing thought.
When I was in college I played in a basketball tournament. We had a pretty good team, and were playing another pretty good team in the semi-finals. They had a cat quick guard who was killing us. Finally I ended up picking him up on a switch and I clobbered the guy as he was going to the rim. It would be a flagrant one if you follow the NBA. Anyway, I felt pretty bad after it happened and offered to help the guy up. He was pretty pissed, and turned my hand down. I spent the rest of the game trying to get him to accept my apology. We lost. I was averaging about 20/game, and I ended up with only 8 (6 of which came before the foul). The morale of the story? You can't force someone to accept your apology, but you can lose the game trying.
I'm disappointed nosapce didn't accept my apology, although I can't blame them. What I'm not going to do is let it distract me. Darrell
That sounds about the right level of ruthlessness.
Plus less headaches. I think China is our best Moia city. It has 2 chops remaining, and with Stone that means we need 87 hammers. At size 3 it can make 8 base, so it's a pretty quick build, and it'll be well defended by our culture. It has 9 coast and 4 ocean tiles, so some bad tiles in the ocean, but the only other good options for Moia are either on the islands (harder to defend) or next to NoSpace (obviously not an option)
Krill, is Moai your version of Rego's ihkanda?
I think your anecdote is quite apropos. If I was novice, I would feel like I had been declared defacto winner. You all basically said "you play too good" by mass declaring. Now novice may be looking to extract his pound of flesh in exchange. I think Shoot would likely be target #1, but we wouldn't be too far behind I suspect.

Okay, so what did nospace decide to do?
![]() Build military ![]() ![]() Not great, but then no one had much at the start. We are building a few units: ![]() Hong Kong can whip that Axe next turn. With a Galley in the water that can take the Axe/Spear, we could see our first action quite soon. Monarchy comes in next turn: ![]() You can see with nospace turning down the offer, we are going to go ahead and settle black dot. Finally, demographics: ![]() Darrell |
