Not really an option since we don't have Open Borders. Unless we use a Caravel, which we don't have much of right now. We should re-offer OB with slowcheetah though IMO.
You can take a galleon south of his culture and unload the spy on land, outside of his culture.
Or you can bring a caravel up.
Btw, I think we should make some more caravels so we can upgrade to frigates when we hit Chemistry. No need to go crazy, they'll cost 110g each.

An excellent suggestion. Do you have anything in mind?

Disagree with offering OB again, I think. Can we block off a significant portion of our territory from being exposed once we settle horse island?

If we had pushed for Tours we could have. I was tempted to go for it last turn, but I didn't want to push our luck. Horse island + Rheims will reasonably shield the southern part of our island from slowcheetah. But Tours can stage a force that pushes towards Five Guys like SC did this war.
I think I need to give an overview screenshot tonight

So thinking about our situation some, scooter, and I don't think building Wealth during our golden age is a great way to go. I mean, if we think slowcheetah is going to attack at the end of the enforced peace then we don't have a choice, we have to get Chemistry ASAP. But if we think he got more than he was bargaining for and won't try to follow up then it may be time to take a risk.
Otherwise, I fear we're just going to continue to fall behind.
INCREASED TECH COSTS + DECREASED KNOWN TECH BONUS = HARDER TO CATCH UP TO LEADERS
Just in case Krill is paying attention, we can add that to the list of things to correct in RBMod. Right up there with Paper as a pre-req for Astronomy.
Back on track - taking a risk. I think we have to do one of two things in this golden age:
1) Economic route: courthouses, libraries, observatories, and probably a few markets here and there. And ESPECIALLY a grocer in Culver's. Our cities are really hurting here because we've done primarily military builds for the last 30-40 turns. I'm sure my whipping spree didn't help either. If you really want to roll the dice then don't tech Chemistry and instead grab Education, but I can't advocate gambling that much.
2) Military route: After chemistry we whip ourselves silly and either conquer Slowcheetah's near island or Xenu. After the conquest we then build up the economy
I think we need to see what's behind door #1 and build infrastructure. It will probably slow chemistry down by a turn or two by not running wealth builds, but it's a gamble I think we need to take to try to increase our long-term teching power.

If I had known the known and understood what the known tech bonus was going to be at the start of the game I wouldn't have started the game until T-hawk had fixed it. The Paper/Astro thing you can go argue with Seven about.

Seven argued for that change? Isn't he the guy that says he doesn't like how far reaching RBMod is?

Most people who argue that the RB mod goes too far also claim that a true minimalist should have X, Y and Z changes, but can never agree what those changes should be. No one is every 100% happy, not even me, but I suppose that last bit is all too believable.

It would be interesting to do a surveymonkey poll with a line for each major change, and see how people feel about them.
Like, 1='excited' 2='neutral' 3='dislike'
Then keep everything with an average less than 2. I have no idea what the results would be, but I'd probably throw my lot in with the mod after that.

Ceil, that's a great idea. I'd repost that in the General RBMod thread
Edit: we may need more to a survey though.Add a suggested change write in for if someone selects Dislike
