The only reason people write blogs :P
[SPOILERS] Krill smokes some weed - PBEM50
|
Reason I'm posting everything on the blog is that I have much better stats there: I actually appreciate the ability to see how many people read the blog.
Is knowing exactly how many of a smaller number better than getting an uncertain larger number? (Actually is my assumption wrong - do you know if you get more readers there than you would here?)
I read and enjoyed your PB5 reports, but I didn't really like the way the blog was laid out, its hard to refer back to older posts like you can here, so it can get a bit hard to follow.
Completed: RB Demogame - Gillette, PBEM46, Pitboss 13, Pitboss 18, Pitboss 30, Pitboss 31, Pitboss 38, Pitboss 42, Pitboss 46, Pitboss 52 (Pindicator's game), Pitboss 57
In progress: Rimworld
I haven't read your blog yet, but I really hope you don't follow your previous report style of just posting a screenshot of every god damned city every god damned turn. That really doesn't give much information. It was hard to even keep track of where each city was relative to every other city. Overview screenshots with more information on plans and detail on tactics is much better, and without a billion useless city screenshots that are 90% of the same from turn to turn (and often captioned by "boring"), it's a lot easier to keep track of the actual useful information.
Not that you're likely to listen to any of that, but at least I tried.
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)
Hearthstone: ArenaDrafts Profile No longer playing Hearthstone. (May 23rd, 2013, 18:43)Krill Wrote: So...Ichabod asked me a mechanics question: If you don't select a tech for the first turn do you lose anything. I said no. I can confirm that, for the first turn. According to seven in previous games, you don't have to pick a tech for the first 5 turns - the beakers will just get stacked up and finally go to whatever tech you pick. I don't know if the window is different for quick speed, but in any case he should be fine for the first turn.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
Really? I have seen a bit of talk in previous PBEMs about 'so I did not select a tech' but haven't figured out how that would work. At least in SP the interface constantly re-prompts you to the point where you have to at least select a placeholder tech just to see where you're at. Any forthcoming info about how to nullify a tech selection (short of merely setting research to 0%)is appreciated, otherwise I can haul my ass over to the greenies thread anyway.
Also I've read something else here (dunno if tongue in cheek) where someone said by not selecting a turn-0 tech you miss out on '1 beaker'. Which kinda gels with the whole 'free hammer per turn' concept, presumably to avoid divide by zero complications in the coding. Last, I looked at Krillblog due to your link and will likely follow it while you don't post here. Agree with judicious use of city-screens (and demos), however they're nice to have to go back to if you want to analyse later. S'pose you can spoiler-tag or collapse on your nifty wordpress blog?
teleh, it works the same way in MP. when you are prompted to pick a tech, just pick a tech. then click the tech bar to deselect it, and end your turn. you can put off picking a tech for the 5 turns this way - on the 6th turn you can do the same, but you'll commit your beakers to whichever tech you selected.
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.
