No one can force you to play the game, and I for one will not blame you: the main reason IMO to not give up on games is that it will make other community members not want to play with you if you abandon a game, but this is one of the instances where most people would probably agree with you ending a game so that isn't a problem.
Yeah, I figured that was the unspoken part about me spoiling myself. That I was done playing turns.

All right Mr. Diplo man. What do you say to this draft?
Proposed Draft for IT Thread Wrote:Okay folks, it's time. We all make our own decisions and we certainly can't or won't force anybody to make theirs, but I've been chatting with scooter and we realize that we are done playing. If you want to blame us for being the ones to quit then go ahead -- we've been fighting wars for 150 turns without even the illusion of the possibility of winning, so we really don't feel like we have anything left to prove. While we respect that everybody needs to decide for themselves when it's time for them to hang up the cleats, recent events have made us realize that it's just time.
If anybody wants to take over I can provide our password. But I won't be logging in to this game again, barring to take screenshots for a post mortem.
It's been a hell of a ride and I look forward to the next time I get to play with you guys. You're all top notch in my book.

Hey I would have just said "Fuck you all I'm taking my ball and going home". That definitely looks like someone with an understanding of tact wrote it. Hell, someone might even accuse you of diplomacy if you post that!

Looks great to me .
General comment: I think this is for the best. If we played on, it was likely going to be to load up all our units and 50 boats and go burn down the Dutch. That is, until Xenu went "hahaha i burn your cities durrrrr" all over the place . One player in particular may be upset about this decision, but I honestly believe playing on could very well result in worse, and I like all the people we played with and don't wish that to happen.

This had to have been the worst strategic nightmare of a game I have ever played. Well, maybe not the worst, but it was pretty bad. We start neighboring a known war-monger, have an early game UU, have copper to his horse, and somehow we let him beat us with archers!? Wtf were we smoking?
And then a crazy idea to invade India turned the whole game around. Suddenly each turn wasn't a depressing slog through being beaten back by Commodore. We were working towards something, not against something. And the audacity of it made it all the more worthwhile: we knew we were going to lose and it was just a matter of time, but we were going to go out with a bang and on our terms. That became our theme for pretty much the rest of the game. Zulu verse the world. It drove us.
Still, it couldn't last forever. Scooter said it right when he said that this game had turned into tower defense. Once we got to India we found ourselves surrounded by 3 opportunistic and aggressive neighbors. It was a race to Astronomy to fend off slowcheetah, and then a race to Chemistry to get to frigates before we could be wiped out. As soon as one war ended another began a few turns later. And as soon as we got peace with slowcheetah there was Commodore attacking us from the west. And as soon as we got peace with Commodore, there was Xenu. Exhausting. We went near 100 turns without building infra, almost 50 turns without researching a single technology. There was definitely a take-on-the world wave of emotion that kept me going, but that was tapering out.
So in the end, here's Zulu. Broken, beaten, hopelessly backwards, completely lacking in infrastructure or power, burned ashes of cities all over the island
but still alive
The world at large
And it would have been fun to go smash Xenu. To burn his cities and take his stuff. To steal Commodore's techs and pretend to build up an empire. But when one neighbor is deleting his units because he's done playing, and another neighbor is declaring war on you while at war with someone else, then it's just time to
Now I dare someone to post that video in Bigger's thread.

I don't think I contributed much other than being Cassandra for scooter and helping with some tactics.

Hi guys. I registered for the forum just to write this, having followed your thread from more-or-less turn one. And then turn-by-turn since then, somewhat to my wife's chagrin...
Thanks for an incredible ride. It was a case of come for the impossible (but true) invasion of India, stay for the white-knuckle survival and entertaining commentary.
Just wanted to let you know you're appreciated.
