I would have thought a team game on this level is two civs per team with two players. If we want we could have 3 players per team for two civ teams if we get enough players.

Sounds like a fun idea. I would definitely participate if I didn't have my hands full with ISDG and PB13 (shameless plug for my team's thread in that forum).
The diplo thing isn't quite so bad if you have a team, but it does make the game be a bit more time consuming. Still, I don't think it sounds like such a problem with pairs, although personally I do prefer the AI-diplo only style (no words, just diplomacy screen like with AIs). But with tech trading off, I don't think it's unreasonable to do a diplo game if that's the game you want. Honestly, with diplo on I'd recommend capping it at about a dozen teams at the most. Diplo with 18 teams is not something any sane person should ever desire . I'd also strongly recommend 2 players/civ, that way you could split up the diplo/turn playing responsibilities if you want.
I will probably ded-lurk a team, but I don't think I'd be consistently available enough to be a pair.

Hi Scooter, we would love to have you - and I have heard that some players already signed up are considering you their dream team-mate What about you guys will win this ISDG thingy asap , so you and others could join us?
By 2 players/civ you mean 2 people playing the same civ, as proposed in our settings?
Scooter, I have been lurking yours and pindicator's PB13 thread already - very impressive amount of info and entertainment even before the game started. Loved the pre-game rankings, players layering and different award ideas PB13 Scooticator and Pindooter thread - highly recommended to all lurkers. I enjoyed reading other from the game, too - like Lakonic Plakonic . I will for sure be checking them often

Hey hey hey, forget that boring thread of those old and fossilized spammers! There will surely be better entertainment somewhere quite near...
Content1: We have currently 5 Pitbosses running, which is probably highest amount ever at RB, which means that even though there surely is interest towards this game, many vets have already their hands full for a while.
Content2: The above applies to me as well, but I will most definitely follow the game

Just a warning: please don't say anything about PB13 outside of a private thread - a lot of us readers are playing and the smallest things can be spoilers that influence the game, even if a little.
The game looks fun, and I agree, diplo makes it great fun for the lurkers at least! (There have been few things on the internet, ever, as entertaining as following PB2 in real time was.) I'll probably ded-lurk someone but my hands are way too full to do anything but post the occasional comment.

Sorry, I hope there was no info whatsover in my post that could be spoilerish. But you are right, I will refrain from mentioning such things in public threads in the future.

Yeah, I think there is a consensus at least that lurkers would love non-AI diplo

@Fintourist, we do not have a set date to start it and are actually not in a hurry to start very soon, we just wanted to advertise early. Perhaps we should simply wait for at least one of your current pitbosses to end?

You can say how awesome we are. That shouldn't be a spoiler to anybody
I love this idea. I love that it encourages a structure for teaching players how to get better at multiplayer civ. I also love that it's a joint event between CFC & RB. I'm sure the ISDG has caused a certain amount of competitive tension on both sides, and running more events like this is a great way to bring more people in and not just see them as "the bad guys".
I don't think diplo is a bad thing in itself. It just changes the game considerably, and the paradigm at RB has been to focus less on diplo than other sites do. But that doesn't mean we can't have diplo games here, and there already are diplo games set up. Anyway, I'm glad to hear that this will be happening and that it is going to be a little different than what we usually run
However, I don't think I can join. Sad face. I could ded-lurk a pair that is already set up and offer advise / input as I have time, but I don't think it would be fair to a new person for me to sign up as their veteran helper when I honestly don't have the time to give full effort to another game, especially one where I would want to help someone else learn what I've picked up from playing MP.

Exactly my thoughts, Pindicator But on second thought, since there is remote chance not everybody knows yet - I will be more careful in the future .

Thank you for your support and very kind words, Pindicator. We also think that the mentoring format would be a worthy idea, although we also worry that it may turn out to be too ambitious - so far the majority of players who signed up self-describe themselves as inexperienced. Which is completely understandable, it will be obviously very generous on the part of more experienced players to devote their time to mentor less experienced ones . So we were very nicely surprised that so many experienced RB players already responded positively to the idea - unfortunately none of them seem to be available now
Before posting this ad, I did not realized that RB Pitboss 13 has just started a couple of days ago.
@ Scooter and Pindicator: if we would wait to start this the usual time interval between RB Pitbosses - which seems to be 1-2 months? - would it allow you to play?
We certainly hope for many RB players to join us So far, we have no RB player signed up yet, but Plako has agreed to be our map maker and has been nothing but extremely helpful, encouraging and supportive from the moment we ran the idea of this game by him - thanks again, Plako! :good job:. And SevenSpirits kindly offered to help with the map, while Scooter and Pindicator offered to dedlurk - not bad at all for first couple of hours of advertising the game
On the other hand, we would love to see some RB players also actually playing with us
So guys and gals, please do not be shy! We are not as bad as they say (We are actually a bit worse than they say ). But hey, we can be fun, too . Try us .
