Red Alert was better. The game that turned me into a gamer. Worse than Meth.

I never played Homeworld, but there was a lot of talk about it. My first "real" game was Starcraft. Which had a WAY better interface, AI and general design than that trash Red Alert (and also Age of Empires).
Civilization IV: 21 (Bismarck of Mali), 29 (Mao Zedong of Babylon), 38 (Isabella of China), 45 (Victoria of Sumeria), PB12 (Darius of Sumeria), 56 (Hammurabi of Sumeria), PB16 (Bismarck of Mali), 78 (Augustus of Byzantium), PB56 (Willem of China)

It was great, true 3D tactics, robust MP, moving SP, and in-game eye candy was amazing for fifteen years ago.

I so very much wanted to play Homeworld when I was a kid, but I couldn't afford a computer capable of running it. Someday I'll pick it up cheap and play it.
I was big into Age of Empires II as a teen (and its Star Wars clone, Galactic Battlegrounds), though never online. I never really played Starcraft, strangely. I was given Age of Empires III and Civilization IV at about the same time, and from that point on was a turn-based-strategy convert. More recently I've gotten into RPGs, which I enjoy immensely, though they're a poor substitute for the real thing. And that's my gamer's resume.
My old freshman college roommate played hours and hours of Homeworld when it came out. I'd have people in the dorm room studying and he'd come in, start up the game with the speakers on full blast. Completely oblivious.

I agree with Krill - Red Alert was awesome. The rest of the serious, both before and after, was bleh. wasn't Kain from red alert though?

Kane is from C&C with a cameo in Red Alert.

i've never played homeworld, hmm.
THH, not sure how you could play any pc gaming and not get hooked on starcraft at some point. you can get it plus the expansion for 15 bucks at best buy (probably cheaper if you research it first). do yourself a favor and do so, its gold. my first was probably a demo I downloaded of age of empires 1 (I was like 13, no job or money), which was fun for the time. loved age of kings, but was disappointed with the AOE franchis after that. played a bit of age of mythology, meh, it was ok, hated AOE III. after alpha centauri though I got hooked on civ style turn playing games (occaisonally dragged into paradox games by my best friend, starting with hearts of Iron II) so haven't gone back to real time games since.

Quote:And I'm really interested in playing against Haram and Barteq, if you catch my drift--has anyone heard of them?A lovely thought, but a quick Google search reveals this game (http://www.civstats.com/viewgame.php?gameid=2483) as well as a what look like spoiler threads at the polish part of civilization.org. No need to tell the players this, of course ![]()
