I'll fix this.
And I think avoiding any naval units is the way to go.
I originally had horses further from the capitals, but the game heats up really fast. At their current location they will passively be included in the capital's BFC at the 2nd border expansion, and, since some teams may be slow on researching AH, giving them a much needed strategic resource quickly is important.
I'm fairly happy with the map, so unless anyone disagrees with any of the decisions, or I find myself in the minority with regards to the missing resources I'm ready to finish up this process soon.

If you are happy with the map, finish it, and send off the relevent photos and wbs to those concerned.

I just posted a note saying I'd wait a couple of hours, but unless I hear an objections for you or anyone else (especially MH and Ruff :neenernee: ) I'm comfortable with this one. I'll double check that the starting techs are correct, and take some starting screens.
Here is the (final?) version.

Er...You randomized where everyone is starting, correct?

The existing locations are random -- I haven't edited any of the starts paying attention to who starts where, and I just took the screenshots. So unless I'm missing something?

Rerandomize them. This way we can always say we weren't even unconciously favouring one side over another,or positioning them in good or bad positions if stuff doesn't work out for them. It's just another level of defence for us.

I just double-checked a few things in the map.
Starting positions are not based on pick order, nor based off of the order of sign-ups. So, presumably it was a random draw. [EDIT: Crossposted on this one.]
All civs have the correct leaders, starting units, and starting techs.
What was the decision about stone/marble? There are a few sources on the donut, although they tend to be between players starts (I think). There were maybe 5 stone/marble total on the donut?

Randomized the starts, which required cleaning up civ contacts and un-revealing tiles. Took new starting screens.
Final map, I guess. I'll send it to sunrise in a few.
Edit: The marble/stone has been moved away from the capitals, but has not been balanced per se.

I had a quick look at the final draft. The strategic resources seem very fair. (Everyone with horses 3 tiles from capital, everyone with copper on island, 9/10 civs with copper on donut radially towards centre, everyone with iron within a few tiles of their capital). But S3 (NW start) seems to be missing its copper radially towards the centre??
A shame about the boats since they would make things a lot more interesting, but maybe better to be safe than to risk unbalancing things. (btw, I had a quick look at circumnav - you can't do it quickly with your boat alone without at least one ROP, due to the islands all being so close to the capital's culture).
