*shrug* regardless of what Retep is going to do, I think that attacking to get the islands is the right choice. If Retep screws up afterwards, that does not invalidate the earlier correct choice.

Fair enough, and I was never trying to suggest retep shouldn't try to grab the islands. My thoughts were more around how Boldly might be able to react to that threat.

Drafting something like 40 Redcoats to get several tiles worth of islands is the right choice?

He needs a good chunk of those red coats though, to defend his eastern islands from opportunistic strikes. I'd say 20 at least, especially if he plans to continue expansion over there. Using them to get a few other island cities first is just another productive use of them.

Wow, William is at 14 frigates already. If he uses them to sink retep's galleons, retep will be truly screwed...

If I were wetbandit, I'd do it.

For the fun of it.

Wetbandit shouldn't do this attack if he wants to try to win this game and he has non-zero chances. It's a three-men's race now and any serious conflict between either of two powers is an auto-win for the third one.

Edit: And about fun. I really would prefer to lurk a game with three equal powers racing to space than a game in which everyone would concede to retep in about 20 turns.

Well space is boring. I'd much rather lurk a game with a 3-player bloodbath. wink Not that this attack would necessarily bring that about, mind you.

Me too but I don't really see a scenario leading to one.
