All he had to do was whip spear/turn in his cities and fort them and no one would care any more.

How about we all agree that if someone doesn't want to play out their game, they can quit to AI, and no one is allowed to make any diplomatic deals with them (including taking peace once at war), and all existing deals must be cancelled ASAP. Only allowable interaction remaining is to declare war on the AI.

ai is certainly better than the current situation... but that's for the player to decide in the it thread

Well, I think there's currently a pretty big stigma against quitting to AI. I could be wrong. I think part of the stigma stems from the fact that the AI is easy to abuse diplomatically.

yes there is a stigma, but i still think ai would be better here. I suggest brick to post something in nakor's thread about whipping at least. turning over a size 11 city is crazy!
if they players want an ai, I think they need to suggest it, not lurkers.

IMO this game (or at least this conflict) is a moot point. But we could have the discussion for future games.

I second the suggestion; if someone really doesn't want to keep playing and they can't find a replacement (or the majority of the other players don't want to wait for one to show up), people should be allowed to turn their civs over to the AI. Yes, the AI sucks, and yes if we wanted to fight AI we'd just play SP, everyone understands this, but an AI playing like an AI is much less unbalancing than a human intentionally playing to lose.

Suggestion for Sevenmod: Ramp up AI production bonuses, so if someone decides to peace out, then AIs trying to take over can actually stand a bit of a chance.

as c'mon go easy on poor zed. William and Mindy have put up some pretty specious ideas and zed didn't question or correct them. especially the bit about it taking ten turns to ferry troops! Good luck could mean just staying out of war... I thought zed did good there!
