The +25% trade route income is probably an additive multiplier, which means it would only work on the base value. So it may not be that large, I don't know. Remember values get truncated at the end.

It was supposed to be additive, but I don't remember if we proved that or not. That change was put in a long time ago.

Scooter, what do you think about forgoing Astronomy until after Economics and a Free Market revolt?

I bet we can 1-turn Banking this turn (162), and then it's probably 5 turns to Economics (167).  So we'll revolt to Free Market on t168, just a few turns after we complete Oxford.  Then probably 5 or 6 more turns to Astronomy (173 or 174).

Compared to what we're doing now, that'll be a 4 or 5 turn delay on when we're getting Astronomy now (169).  But we'll get into Free Market 6 or 7 turns faster.

The other option I think is that I believe Mackoti is doing a lot of Build Wealth to power himself along.  We could stay the course on Astronomy and then upgrade our current galleys in the west to galleons.  A dozen berserkers could raze some cities if we catch him by surprise, especially those island cities.  And it'd encourage him to come out of his Wealth builds.

I was thinking about that last night after we got done chatting. The one glitch is I was really hoping to not turn science back on until after Oxford is completed. Maybe that's not realistic.

I'm definitely up for a strike on mackoti if we can pull it off. It'll be tricky since he'll get Astro first, so it'll be harder to catch him by surprise... But we will have 6 moves on our boats, so that's our advantage.

By my rough estimate, Free Market is worth roughly 150 raw commerce/turn to us right now.

I don't think a turn of Anarchy is worth revolting into Merc, Representation or not.
