The Second Korean War: THH duels Ruff_Hi

It is somewhat likely I will both take and lose a city next turn:

Nice attack, Ruff; I didn't consider that possibility (smoke).

I have a CI 25% fortify warrior in 20% defence and a hastily-whipped chariot to defend against two chariots, at least one of which has a promotion available. So the odds I lose it are between 50 and 67%, I'd guess. Meanwhile it's almost assured I'll take that barbarian city in the southwest.

Sorry for the stream of updates, it's just interesting stuff (to me) is happening.

I did not lose the city; he attacked and killed my chariot and heal-promoted, and didn't even bother attacking my warrior. He moved another chariot in.

I also did not take the barb city; I opted just to kill it with my yet full-strength axe next turn instead of going in at 65% with my shock warrior. Bah, maybe I should have; I had another warrior as well - oh well.

Anyway, I have a mechanics question I need answered before I end turn:

I discover Hunting and put 23 hammers into this warrior at end of turn. Does it complete as a spearman? I think it should; I'm just afraid some weird behaviour would either make it finish as a warrior or delay its completion a turn. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Yeah, it should.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

Thanks, Commodore. Yeah, it worked. So Cheju should be safe. I may have overreacted and whipped too much pop into military:

I'm still on schedule to found another city (you can see the settler) and capture Saxon, though, so expansion doesn't seem to have been affected. Worker movements have been royally messed up, though, and tile assignments are quite ugly. Those beautiful demos are no more ... for now.

What I want to know is why he didn't attack your warrior with his chariot.

Yeah, he should have. He's a lot more aggressive than Q was, always probing my borders and now opting for a chariot-rush, but he also seems to shy away from certain risks - retreating warriors I thought were trying to pillage, declining shots at cities with relatively good odds - but in such a tight matchup as a duel, a risk rewarded may well mean game. But I can't really comment seeing as I was the guy smoke enough to leave the city that vulnerable in the first place ...

Edit: ARG I'm such an idiot - I forgot to let the barb city grow to 2 before taking it! !#@$

Have you read any of the reports on his site? They sound pretty aggressive (and interesting!)

It seems to have stopped working:
