On a related note, still taking opinions (with associated reasoning) on the effect of the changes to tech costs and known tech bonus affecting research rates, particularly by the front runners such as mackoti, and those that are now tech laggards like Finharry.

Scooter is going to build a lot of wealth and Commodore can't afford doing it.

scooter cant afford it either, whether he knows it yet or not.

Cities losses show up in civstats, as others are noticed:

When I look at the power graph, I don't feel like looks to me like Lewwyn is keeping up... it looks to me like he's whipping into the ground but still losing cities. I never wish for guys plans to go down in flames, but if Scooter's confidence is deserved, Lewwyn's plan is not going to work.

I believe pretty strongly that this is Commodore's last chance to win... but he ain't taking it. Oh well.

Oh, and while I'm spamming:

Bacchus fort plan is cute, but that's all it is. Just pile into demolished man and make him come to you. Options include sacrificing defenders to kill his cav stack if he splits it, or just get full fortify and kill as many dudes as possible.

None of these forts in front of the capital are going to do anything except let Plako get some free kills before the big battle.

I think the idea is he doesn't want to let plako's cannons shred all of his units at once?

^ pretty sure if Bacchus just holed up in his capital Cannons will just shred through everything. Look at PBEM 46 where THH couldn't make any grounds against OH cause of all the cannons. Despite having Infantry vs Cav's.

I think it's a little weird that mackoti and I (and Commodore to an extent) are having so much trouble breaking away from the pack in tech given our pretty decisive edges in tile yields. I'm trying to temper my obvious current bias here a little bit by looking at it objectively for serious feedback purposes, but I can't help but wonder if the increased tech costs should be tempered juuuuust a little bit. Not a ton, but a little bit.

I have never used RB Mod myself, so I can't comment from personal experience, but given that both mack and scooter have voiced identical complaints regarding tech costs, perhaps something should be changed? I guess things are working well enough if the intention is to keep games competitive longer, but it seems like that might be wearing on people in a normal-speed game with many teams.

On the spectrum laid out by scooter, they are actually expressing opposite frustrations. High tech costs and high "known tech" bonii both serve to keep the game competitive, but Mackoti seems frustrated with the bonus while Scooter laments the high costs.

It's worth noting, the leaders feelings are shared by so many of us in the mid-game of BtS single player: "dangit I'm not far enough ahead for an easy conquest, but tanks/bombers are still too far away!" Maybe the frustration just comes with being a world power?
